When do the womens gymnists and diving start? That's when I'll start and stop watching......;p
What a fucking awesome opening. Really, that was magnificent, stunning and absolutely beautiful. Perhaps it's just because I'm really into the British culture, but I really loved that show. Doubt someone will out perform in the near future. I love everything from the Queen and James Bond to NHS tribute. I really laughed my ass off when I saw Sir Rowan Antkinson playing that was really good and I didn't see that comming. Loved it.
Now it's time for the danes to show the flag to the world. :)
Oderint dum metuant.

Yeah, i actually laughed at the Rowan Atkinson bit. I dunno, whether its Mr Bean, Monty Python or Benny Hill, ive actually been a fan of British humor for a long time.
But that opening ceremony was WAAAAYYYYYY too long. The beginning was pretty cool, but that whole "boy meets girl" music montage was just dumb and unnecessary imo. But, with that being said, good to see the games kick off. Ill just sit there and pretty much watch ANY event, so long as the US is on, and root for them.

One of the greatest races of all time from the 2008 Olympics.
The boys meets girls part was perhaps just a bit to long, but it were to show the music revolution in the british music screen.
Great to hear I'm not the only fan of British humor, I think the most watched channel at my house is BBC Entertainment. Did you notice that doing the boys meet girls, the house that worked as a TV or something like that showed former british shows? Fawlty Towers oh good god I love that show. I think it was suppose to be Mr Bean, it certainly loook that way imo.
I think I'll watch most events that the Danes are attending in. Mostly handball.. Things that I'll for sure not see is horse riding and soccer. that's for sure.

It was pretty good, but no where near as cool as Beijing. I'm not sure anyone will ever meet the colossal nature of their opening ceremony.
Cool thing w/ the torches.
Paul McCartney looks like Deputy Dog and didn't sound good. It's time to hang em up and reflect.
Winston Churchill:
"Since light travels faster than sound, some people appear bright until you hear them speak."
"If you're not a liberal at twenty you have no heart, if you're not a conservative at forty you have no brain."

I just hope the damn Chinese won't top the medal table again.

Well technically, the US won the most medals in 2008 (110 to China's 100), but China is top of the medal table because they won alot more Gold then us. Plus, i seem to recall the announcers saying that the host country typically gets 50% more medals then they would normally, so that leads me to believe that they wont win it all this year.
Then again, the US has been damn shaky in the events ive seen so far. Outside of Lochte and Womens BBall, i havent seen anything impressive from the US, they seem to be good enough for Silvers, but thats about it. Im sure it will change over time. That Archery loss was a heartbreaker though...gotta give credit to the Italian team, that last shooter was clutch for them, shooting a 10 Bullseye on the last shot, which was what they needed to win.

Welp, didnt take too long for controversy to pop up:

Apparently, NBC cut out a 6-minute tribute in the open ceremonies to the 7/7 London Terrorists attack victims. The US got a lengthy Ryan Seacrest interview of Phelps instead (i was wondering why they had an interview in the middle of opening ceremony coverage).
Really fucking classy, NBC. So if lets say NYC gets a Summer Olympics in the future, and decides to have moving tribute to the 9/11 victims during the opening ceremonies, are we going to cut that out too? Fucking ridiculous. And yes, all blame goes to NBC on this one.
