Will Mark Wahlberg Play Eric Draven in a Remake of The Crow

Misanthropic masses, commence with the head-scratching. It's rumored that Mark Wahlberg has been offered the role of Eric Draven in a remake of The Crow, which may have been written by Nick Cave.

Despite being a Goth cult classic, the original 1994 film is probably best known for the on-set death of Brandon Lee, the last known Draven.


The star was accidentally shot and killed during filming when the props department left a real bullet in the .44 caliber revolver that another actor was supposed to fire at him.


Even excepting the awful circumstances of Lee's death, the idea of a remake is touchy, to say the least. Eric Draven is a sacred figure to many.


The angst, the tragedy, the violence, the total badassery of his good guy-ness ... Is it any wonder that every year around Halloween, in every neighborhood, his visage gets painted across the faces of a handful of teens and nostalgic young adults?


In case you need reminding:

It had a decent soundtrack as well. And Bai Ling's only decent screen appearance.

Michael Wincott (Top Dollar) was awesome as well.

Best line is Skank though... 'I feel like a little worm on a big fuckin' hook".



I don't give a shit how many times they remake it. It ain't gonna work.

I have yet to see a Re-boot out do, or live up to the original....

Remake? Already?

Are we going to get to a point where the remake will come out a year later?

Yep...Hollywood is completely devoid of original ideas, and they are a copy cat business for sure. Once something becomes a "surprise hit," every studio tries to replicate that. Few years ago it was graphic novels...Sin City hit big, so then you have 300, Watchmen and others releasing right after. Now its the "reboot" stuff, i think it was the horror movies that started this crap...the reboot of Halloween (Rob Zombie) and Friday the 13th.

But yeah, to answer your question...they are starting to remake/reboot movies that are only a year or two old. One that angers me is this stupid "Let Me In" crap: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1228987/ which is a remake of a foreign film from 2008 called "let the right one in" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1139797/

The 2008 one was fantastic in its own right, but of course Hollywood decided to remake it in America for those too lazy to read subtitles. Dumb.

really? im done with hollywood. man this sucks, one of my favorite movies will get remade and ruined. im not seeing this. i refuse. down with hollywood!
