Chicagoans.... Need assist!

Ok... The wife will be flying into O'Hare on 3/28 morning and won't fly out until 3/29 late afternoon. Ultimately, she'll end up in Jacksonville with the daughter. Until then, she has that damn near 24 hour layover in Chicago. She has no intentions of doing anything but sleeping and relaxing after this 14 hour flight.

She is... by herself... in a city she's never been in before.

So, what I need is:

- A nice hotel
- Close to the airport
- That won't break the bank
- Is SAFE and not located in the ghetto area that typically near airports.

Any recommendations for airports that are close to the airport, safe and affordable?

The Hilton is actually IN the airport. I'm assuming the rate will be about 2 bills for a night.

Don't take anything that's on Mannheim, headed south.

I'm sure Tommay will put her up for the night.

The only problem with that is, as it's a new city for my wife, she won't know where to dispose of his body parts.

The Intercontinental O'Hare is a nice property by a pretty good steak house, McCormick and Shmick. There is a movie theater and a couple of other places to eat, too. http://www.icohare.com/dining_entertainment/

If you want to treat her though, Intercon or Marriott downtown is right on the mag mile with plenty of shopping/dining right out the front door... probably a little pricey though.

I'd just have her stay at the airport hilton because she's obviously a horrid driver.

Actually, Mrs. Loki is a pretty good driver.

In all seriousness though. Just for ease, I'd probably just stay in the Airport Hilton.
