A day in the life of an Aircraft Carrier
This is long, but broken down into easily digestible parts. I've never seen a more accurate "day in the life" when it comes to a carrier, which is no surprise because the author was a skipper. Take a read. It might take a while, but for those who might have wondered WTF goes on onboard a carrier, he'll fill you in.
Neptunus Lex was also the best milblogger around, especially for the USN. Apart from the USNI, he was the voice of expertise for all things USN and even more so for Naval Aviation. His blog was a daily visit for me for a very long time now.
Unfortunately, Capt Carroll LeFon (aka Lex) died in an airplane crash in Fallon, NV a couple of days ago while flying as a civilian contractor performing as an "adversary" pilot for TOPGUN. Lex was so loved by the USN community, even SecNAV mourned his passing. His presence will be sorely missed, and certainly more than some of these hack entertainers who don't contribute to anything important.
R.I.P. Lex... Fair winds and following seas!
