The fact remains that no matter what game companies do on any device to attempt to stop piracy, someone is going to find a way around it within days of release. It's been proven time and time again.
From what I've been reading about next gen consoles you won't even be able to put in a used copy to even play a game. Have to buy new. Then pretty soon it's all online-no disks. I enjoy online games as much as anyone but there are times I just want stand alone games or games I can play w/o anyone else. I don't need a headset to talk or message somebody.
Arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win your still messed up.

This has already started for the most part. Most games I've purchased lately have all had codes you have to enter to even get online to play multiplayer or get game updates. If someone uses the code and then sells the game, the person who buys said used game is forced to buy a new code if they want to access any online content, and in some cases to access the game itself. Having to pay a store to purchase used games and then having to purchase a license to get online is going to do exactly what the big publishers want - kill used game sales that they don't get any profit from. It's sad to see it go this way but it will only get worse before it gets better the way it looks.

Yeah, I'm sick of just even updates on my PS3 as well. Maybe someday there will be competition or a niche market. Until then I'm glad I kept my old games.

There isn't much room for a niche market or competition. With the amount of money the major companies have to dump into consoles and games and the quality of the products they produce, outsiders would have to get extremely lucky to even have a chance at grabbing a chunk of the market from them.

No argument here. There are more and more people not liking where gaming is going though. Someday perhaps.

Myself included. I've always tried to support some of the indy game developers as they generally have new and fresh ideas compared to the major devs that just rehash the same old content over and over again (even though that rehashing works marvelously unfortunately). It's gotten to the point where you don't see many unique games coming out because the major devs are afraid to make flops. No one takes risks anymore which has lead to the game industry to become fairly stagnant content wise. The more new ideas that get pushed into the main stream the more we as gamers benefit from it with better titles to pick from.
