    The NFL is donating A PORTION of its profits to cancer research. So the NFL is still profiting from this.

    The NFL is only donating 5% of pink gear sales to cancer research.

    This article is being circulated quite a bit and people are up in arms. What I don't like (really shoddy journalism if you ask me) is the author says "if jerseys are marked up 100%....". Are they marked up 100%? Where did he get that value? And marked up from what? Is that just the hard costs of manufacturing the jersey? Does it contemplate the NFL's indirect and soft costs? That's like saying a pop at McDonald's only costs them 5 cents yet ignoring the wages of the employee serving it, the cost to maintain the property, the marketing costs to get the customer in the door etc etc.

    You should know better than to assume that most American's, and the majority of "journalists" these days, have any clue about the costs of business.
