Thanks for bumping this post. Gave me an idea for a new thread of people's stories of Walter Payton encounters. It would be good for some of the younger fans to know about the man behind the highlights.
Also, noticed the comment about wishing we had a team like the '85 Bears. You must have been looking at a lucky star when you typed that one! '06 is feeling pretty damn good right about now!
Also, thank you for the video. I am inspired! For those interested in Pure Payton in a digital format, it is included in the Payton book that was published last year. Please buy it from the Walter and Connie Payton foundation www.payton34.com , which continues the charitable works that were such an important part of our hero's life. Buy a jersey while you're there! Trust me: they are of the highest quality, and come from the only acceptable source of Walter Payton jerseys!
The NFL's humanitarian award is named after St. Walter. I can't think of a better tribute for one of the most incredible players to ever put on a helmet, and one of the most incredible people to ever walk amongst us.
Why not have a thread full of pictures, videos, tributes, or anything else that involves the hero that Walter is to so many people?
When I hear the word "heart", Walter is the first thing that comes to mind.
I remember how he used to the hold the ball in one hand. I would be so nervous that it would get stripped but he rarely fumbled. His awareness on the field was second to none.
