Because it seems a lot of Bears "fans" are professional Pollyannas that for some reason seem to actually enjoy predicting doom for their team. And in true Marriotti fashion, they'd rather the Bears lose and be proven right than have them win and have to eat crow.
I'm starting to detest visiting Bears "fan" sites.
The "fans" are not professional pollyanna's, but 3-4years of mediocre seasons w/nothing done to correct the primary problems are going to have a negative impact on the fans perception of the team. I could just as easily say that "Bear fans" that think everything are fine are just a bunch of Cub fans that have no vested/emotional interest in the play on the field or the team winning, or any football knowledge and just go out there and cheer on losing year after year; ie pure definition of cubs fan.
The problem w/the pre season was not the win/loss or the td's or the to's it's the fact that the play on the field was what we have all been witnessing since the SB. Bad OL play, qb running for his life or taking a sack, wr's running the wrong routes, DL not getting any pressure b/c the qb's dump the ball off on a slant or screen that gets 10+ yards even on 3rd and long b/c of a super soft cover by the DB's.
Yes we added a ton of players, and a new OC, but no OC can run an O w/out an OL and our OL is still brutal; if you watched pre season you would know that it's the same as the last several years. Yes we added Peppers and Harris, but the DL is still not getting pressure and the DB's are still giving up a ton of yards b/c none of them can cover or tackle.

Blind optimism is just as bad as constant pessimism.

I have to agree with Ric, DB and Jimmors (if that makes sense).
Ric is completely correct in saying the past 3-4 years (i think he was counting the liklihood of a fialing season this year in the mix, otherwise his three year mark fits like a glove) leaves little room for anything to be hopeful about.
DB is right in the terms of there being no need to have complete negativity (hense why I started my thread about positive things in the Bears). I think the Bears are destined to fail (and will gladly eat a steaming pile of crow if I am wrong) but that does not mean that there are not positives to be taken out of every negative.
And Jimmors is correct that being totally on one side of the line is never good. Blinded by optimism or blinded by pessimism will always give you a wrong impression in any situation.

Correct...unfortunately that seems to be all we have around here...haters or homers. Where's that middle ground of people who realize that everyone starts out 0-0 this week and anything can happen on any given sunday: good, bad or both. I try to stay in that middle ground as a realist and just accept things for what they are right now: Lovie is our coach this year, JA is the GM, our OL sucks balls, but we have some talent on our team. And if the team doesnt perform, then most likely some changes will be made. If they do well, then maybe no changes at all...hard to say. In any case, i grow weary of the negativity AND the blind positivity. Thats my rant for the day...hate or love away...

I have watched enough years of my favorite teams to say this year will be no different than the other failed years of Cubs, Bears, Blackhawks sports. last year the team quit on lovie until the last 2 weeks. We are no where close to the elite teams in this league. Even if we somehow manage to make it to the playoffs we are one and done.

Well guess the blind pessimism and not being able to win , it WAS different in 2010 and that is why on a 'fan site" the never ending pessimism and "sure" they will stink and sure they can't win, well isn't a sure thing

I didn't know JA overhauled the scouting department this past year. It will be interesting to see what effect that has going forward. Thats another reason I liked the Cutler trade so much is because our first round picks mostly sucked these past 5 years. It's wierd that they seem to flop when drafting in the first round, and have done so well in later rounds.
Like Prisco says, you can't hit homeruns on every pick, but you better hit double's and triple's in the high rounds and not strikeouts, and the Bears have struck out on first rounders .... but had alot of homeruns in rounds 2 through 7.

really have been hit and miss through the whole draft. it's just the later rounds look better by comparison b/c you don't expect anything out of them. The reason we lack quality depth in key areas is b/c we have not drafted well 1-7 for multiple years which has created a need to continually draft the same position over and over(DL,DB,WR)

Are you really going to go through all your own threads from months ago to simply post crap like this?
