notes from week 5:( no records)
-The 147 yards allowed by #Bears is their best defensive effort since holding Bills to 145 in a 40-7 wipeout on Oct. 8, 2006.
-Robbie Gould's 53 yd FG in the 4th qtr was a career long. Previous was 52 last Oct. 4 vs. Lions.
-Bears now 47-9 under Lovie Smith when scoring at least 18 points
-Bears sacked the QB five times in Carolina. They came into the game with only four for the season.
-Matt Forte's 166 rushing yards are most by a Bear since December 16, 2001 when Anthony Thomas ran for 173.
-Forte was named NFC offensive player of the week after generating 201 yards from scrimmage (50 rushing and 151 receiving) including TD catches of 89 and 28 yards in a season-opening 19-14 win over the Lions at Soldier Field.
-Playing takeaway: The Bears generated three takeaways Sunday for the fourth time in five games this season. They forced three or more turnovers only twice all of last year.
The Bears’ 14 takeaways this season are tied for tops in the NFL with the Lions, and their 214 takeaways since Smith became coach in 2004 are the most in the league.

Congrats Forte!! well deserved..
ZachZaidman Matt Forte is the FedEx Ground NFL Player of the Week. He rushed for 166 yards and 2 TDs in the Bears’ 23–6 win over the Panthers.
Hester was forced to celebrate his place in the NFL record book after the 23-20 loss to the Seahawks on Sunday at Soldier Field. His 89-yard punt return in the fourth quarter tied him with Brian Mitchell at 13 for the most combined kickoff and punt return touchdowns in league history. The Bears are now 8-3 in games in which Hester takes a return to the end zone.
"I'm not satisfied with tying (Mitchell's record)," Hester said. "I want to break it. I don't want to have two names up there. That might be a selfish goal but at the end of the day I want to make sure these 10 (blockers) have their names on the list with me."
