In a surprise move, the Bears have released Mark Anderson and are planning to fill his roster spot with another veteran defensive end, according to two league sources.
The Bears are working to sign Charles Grant, the 25th pick in the 2002 NFL Draft of the New Orleans Saints. Grant had 5 1/2 sacks last season for the Super Bowl champion Saints, but he was released in March.
Grant currently plays for the Omaha Nighthawks of the United Football League, but he had a strong training camp with the Miami Dolphins.
He had a possible four-game suspension looming in the NFL for the StarCaps situation -- along with Minnesota Vikings defensive tackles Pat Williams and Kevin Williams -- but a ruling has been delayed.
Since tallying 10 sacks in 2006, as a rookie, Anderson hasn't come close to reaching that number. This offseason, he lost a battle to start opposite Julius Peppers to Israel Idonije, who had a sack Sunday against the New York Giants.
Anderson has 12 sacks not 10... jenssen still getting alot wrong about bears.. the vike stank still on him..j/k
Can we do something about the O-Line PLEASE!!!!!!!! ....... LOL!!!!
.
Nice. We need OL help and we sign a D linemen who couldn't make it with the Omaha Nighthawks! Next thing you know, we'll be signing a back-up punter from Australian Rules Football League.
the defense means more to JA then the offense get over it already. Something not working on defense immediate response. Something doesnt work on offense blah blah blah story of the franchise.
btw wasnt this guy in offield issues?
What the hell, OFFENSIVE LINE for Pete's sake.
Alex Brown. Never mind...
