Arkush: Jerry Angelo phasing himself our for Tim Ruskell
I caught the tail end on Boers and Bernstein, but what was essentially being said was that this recent "accountability" of draft picks and personnel moves was because essentially Jerry has turned over a lot of his GM duties to Tim Ruskell, and Tim is making these personnel decisions now.
So for all this "inditement of Jerry" that he's cutting his own picks - he isn't; Tim is, and Jerry is looking to either retire or move on from the GM position - either with the Bears or with another organization - and not have to make draft picks going forward.
Believe it or not, I always believed Jerry knew enough about the operations side of football that he'd make a decent Team President - just as long as he isn't the one picking and evaluating talent.
But like I have been telling people since the hiring of Ruskell - Tim is going to be the GM sooner rather than later, and according to Hub Arkush, who was on the Score with B&B - he essentially is the de-facto GM right now...
I found this on another board. This would be good news not that I am a huge fan of Ruskell, but anything is better than Angelo.

what he means is, JA was forced to turn those duties over to Ruskell, right? He's not doing it by his own choosing, is he?

Wouldn't Brian McCaskey be in any discussion to replace Phillips, though? Hub also started the Cowher talk last year on B&B so who knows.
-
This would make sense though with the recent wave of strange moves that we have made.
I will hold out hope because I think Ruskell has drafted an OLmen before.

I misread this as Tim Russert at first, but still thought he could make a better decision with our o-line in his present condition.

Could the chin get along w/Ruskell or does he draft DL every year too come hell or high water?
Arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win your still messed up.
Restore the roar!

Ruskell is a tad worse then JA

Good news JA is "phasing" himself out. Bad news it's a guy still in the current management chain.
I'm not sure this is necessarily worse then JA though, will this guy take reaches for guys like Wolfe in the 3rd; or Okwo, Beekan, Bauzine? Will he really only draft a OL in the first 3 rounds 1-2 every ten years as if that group is capable of being neglected at that rate? If so, or will do worse, then you're right; if not he's at least a small upgrade.

Looking at the present depth chart this team has tones of problems. Now I am wondering who signed off on this cluster.
Without weaponz it's just another airline!
I am here to chew bubble gum and kick butt and I am all out of bubble gum!

if you look at the depth chart... you'll see we look REAL good at every position not related to the O-line.
O-line = Bad.
Everything else is looking pretty freakin good.
Just Curious though... care to throw out a few examples of how this team has a "ton" of problems...
Seems we have only ONE problem.... a pretty freakin huge one... but only one.
