Yeah, from what Martz said, I still don't think he gets the point. It sounds like he was saying, "Yeah, I had so many ideas for new pass plays and crazy wicked receiver routes, but the players couldn't digest them in time. Maybe by next week, they will have had enough time to digest it all. Then we can REALLY pass all day!"
Hey Martz, did you ever hear of BALANCE?

I'll tell you what happened with Martz. We were 3-0 and all three wins were close and we had yet to score 30 points in a game. We were playing the 1-2 Giants (who DO suck, they only put up 17 points while dominating the Bears) on national television. Martz wanted a blowout. He wanted big plays all the time and 5 offensive touchdowns.
When he saw that his aggressive gameplan was being stymied by a surprisingly effective Giants pass-rush, he flat-out REFUSED to make the same adjustments he did agains Dallas and The Pack. "Hey, Jay's tough, he can take it". He did it until he got our QB hurt.
No, Martz KNOWS THIS. I'm sure he feels terrible about it and will probably never do it again. And I look at this as actually a blessing in disguise. I'm sure Martz will "take what the defense gives him" more in the future and go for bigger plays as they present themselves.

But Lovie still has final say. He should have told Martz to start running the ball after sack number five in the first half.

Actually I think Cutler should have final say. If he gets the play and looks at the D and see it is not going to work. Then he should have the right to audible to what he thinks will work.

All QBs SHOULD.
The problem is, Martz did what he said he was going to do when he got here. Throw the whole playbook at the players from day one.

If he threw the book at them on day one, I see nothing wrong wit that. It gives them the offseason to learn it and perfect it. Now it was week one and he threw a bunch of new plays at the offense and said they had to have it down before the game. That would be ridiclous.

I believe it was day one, when he met them, but that is still asking a lot. He has the biggest and most complex playbook in NFL history.
Every play has like three various ways to be run.

If the playbook is thicker than "War and peace", I can see that as being uable to learn in a couple monthes. But if the playbook is just allot of plays the team should learn it. It's their job to learn the playbook and run the plays. It is a matter of how many plays and how much time they had to learn them. These guys went to college they should know how to study.
