Stating The Positives About The Bears
Don't post here much, but I do love this team & want to defend it
I don't care if I sound homerish here. The Bears have been criticized the past few days for the way they're playing & I disagree with it. So far this team is looking great. Can't be positive how things will in the future but I love what they have done
Cutler in his first 3 games was great, the best QB in the NFC & then the Giants almost killed him in the 1st half there. Forte has been very good. His first great rushing game of the season this past week. Hopefully we can get both Forte & Cutler hot at the same time for balance. If Forte continues to have great games rushing then the offense could be unstoppable. Love this stat. The last two times a RB has had 150 yards receiving & rushing in the same season, Mike Martz was the OC (Faulk did it in 99). Knox, Hester & Olsen are awesome receiving threats. Knox has 6 catches already over 20 yards. All 3 can stretch the field, can block & can make catches in the end zone. With Cutler @ QB we are a Top 4 offense in the NFC with Atlanta, Green Bay & Philly. They've scored 19 or more in 4 of 5 games this year
The defense without a doubt is the best in the NFC. Peppers, Urlacher, Briggs & Tillman is the best foursome on defense in the NFL. An immensely talented defense. The rest of the D Line has definitely been efficient. My favorite stat of the Bears so far- The longest play they've allowed this season is 30 yards. Not one single big play against them the entire season. They are dominant against the run, 3rd in the NFL against the run, it's the staple of their defense. They're 2nd in the NFL in YPA v the pass. The defense is reliable, consistent, getting close to dominant & they don't give up big plays. A trustworthy defense is very nice. The most points they've given up this year is 20
The Special Teams has always been a plus for the Bears for the past decade. They do everything right on Special Teams it seems. Gould, Manning, Hester, Maynard, Mannelly & DJ Moore. The special teams doesn't seem to falter for us
And it seems the only way so far to beat us is when they play HORRIBLE, Which won't happen often. And very good teams know how to take advantage of other teams mistakes. If the opposing team makes a mistake the Bears the vast majority of the time capitalize on it. Very good teams also know how to win when making mistakes. There have been obvious mistakes the Bears have been in each game, but they still win. Winning without being perfect is necessary & only the best teams do it. The Bears count in that category
They clearly have notable weaknesses. They have a horrible offensive line who can't run block or pass block which also translates into their horrible goal line plays, they suck with 3rd down conversions & they clearly need Cutler to stay healthy, but as a whole they got a lot of brightness on their team. They're definitely the team to beat in the division with Minnesota offense going to horrendous status & Green Bay falling down with injuries plus beating the Packers already. A favorable schedule the next 3 games makes a 7-1 start realistic & 10 games is usually the number for a playoff spot. If they start 7-1, there's no logical reason to believe they go 2-6 or worse to end the season. The only team that has been more effective so far in the NFC is the Falcons
With the way they're playing right now, they are doing really well. At this point in the season they are definitely among the top teams in the league & that's all that really matters. This team has FAAAAAR more positives then negatives
