In celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Bears’ unforgettable Super Bowl XX championship season, ChicagoBears.com will take a look back at the famed 1985 team every Friday.

LAKE FOREST, Ill. – Several key members of the famed 1985 Bears will join coach Mike Ditka on stage Nov. 5 at the Arie Crown Theater in Chicago to re-live the franchise’s memorable Super Bowl-winning season.

Richard Dent, Jim McMahon, Dan Hampton, Gary Fencik and Willie Gault are among the ’85 Bears slated to participate in “Glory Days, Legends of the Chicago Bears.”

Ditka took part in a similar event honoring late Cowboys head coach Tom Landry in Dallas earlier this year and thought the same format would provide a perfect forum to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Bears’ Super Bowl XX championship.

With more characters than a Disneyland parade, the 1985 Bears dominated their opponents while bringing fun back to the NFL. They cruised through a 15-1 regular-season, shut out two overmatched opponents in the playoffs and then thrashed the New England Patriots 46-10 in the Super Bowl.

“When the Bears won the Super Bowl, it was special,” Ditka said. “I always describe [the players] as characters who had character. They went out and they did their job. They played hard, they practiced hard and they partied hard.

“People say maybe I don’t appreciate [the championship] as much as I should. [But] I do. I think about it a lot. People say maybe they should have won more. Maybe we should have, but we didn’t. But we won one and we won one with the greatest group of guys I’ve ever been around.”

Tickets for “Glory Days, Legends of the Chicago Bears” go on sale at noon Saturday and cost $49, $99, $149 and $199. Tickets and VIP packages will be available at http://www.glorydayschicago.com/.

“Just to hear [Steve] McMichael curse again, it will be worth it,” Ditka said.

A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales will go to the Gridiron Greats Assistance Fund, an organization that provides medical and financial assistance to retired NFL players in dire need.

The television broadcast of the event will air on NBC5 Chicago as a one-hour special Dec. 4, Dec. 19 and Jan. 8 and a half-hour behind-the-scenes show Dec. 12, Dec. 18 and Dec. 25.
