Defended the boy since he got here on all four corners of the Interweb. Love a cocky gunslinger. What now Jay? My quarterbacking hero is/was Jim McMahon. The smartest guy Ditka said he ever coached. Jimmy changed the plays so much that he was basically the defacto Bears' OC. He drove Ditka mad, but he got it right more often than not. We scored. That was that. He was Peyton Manning 15 years before Peyton Manning. He audibled DB blitzes before the DB moved up to the line, he was that good. Dare I say it, even Kyle Orton reads defenses better than Jay Cutler (and no, that's not a call for Kyle Orton, just a fact). Today's word is 'audible'. See something you don't like? Change it. Old man Kreutz is asleep again on the job? Call the assignments yourself. Protect those edges. Omiyale and Webb are too dumb to pick it up ? Do it for 'em - it's your team

Um, Mike Martz does not and I repeat, DOES NOT allow audibles in his offense. The play you get is the play you execute. So blame Martz for being a pompous ass.

Jim McMahon. I loved that guy! He wasn't the most talented guy on the field but he made things happen and got the job done. And, he infuriated his coaches along the way.

How can you not like the guy!?!

Unfortunately, this is true from what I have read. I am still unsure if Martz is a good fit in Chicago with that squad.

If Martz really does not allow for audibles like Boochee Man says, boy oh boy, that really is the height of arrogance. Not only that, but...um... if that's the way he's gonna call it and Lovie allows it, our team is toast. (Best case scenario at the end of the year... Lovie and Martz are GONE.)

I still say that even if the run game is not effective at first, don't give up on it. It's an essential part of the game. You've gotta keep on running it to create balance. Eventually, things will develop. And even if they don't, the other team STILL thinks you might possibly run on any given play, thus taking pressure off of Cutler. Martz is so damn stubborn that if he doesn't gain substantial yards on the first few carries, he'll give up on it, claim it's "ineffective", and become one dimensional: Pass, Pass, Pass (aka Sack, Sack, Sack). Be patient with the run and things will begin to balance out. And Cutler won't end up comatose.
