Why settle for being better than 1/2 the league? Why not strive to be the best? I don't think anyone wants to settle for mediocrity and in your terms that's what JA has accomplished..mediocrity.

I'd settle for being better than 3/4 of the league.

agree I WANT AND WISH the bears to win the next 2,000 games straight and think the team should "strive" for this goal..just saying 'most times" what you strive for doesn't happen.. i always 'hope" like fans of all 32 teams 'hope" we will be the BEST, but reality is IMPOSSIBLE and not team ever stays on top or the best.. Just NFL reality.
just pointing out while 'some" think angelo THE WORST GM in league that isn't close to correct.. want to see he isn't the best? get no argument from me - he isn't..
just saying he isn't the best or worst, he's better than the majority of Gm's, and defintely has his sahres of mistakes, blown picks and goof up's.. Just saying NOT THE WORST as some lamely say, nothing more, nothing less

we cant afford anymore big deals remember? And you will give a LG a 50 mil contract after sitting out a whole season lol. Moss would help now who knows what happens next season. For all we know allot of these guys start getting new deals like McNeil did. Oh well no matter what you will defend what JA does. I dont know how you can be so high on JA when we have to live in FA to field a team.

we can't afford deals in 2010as spent the 2010 budget, but CAN in 2011, why would you say we can't afford a new years budget? that doesn't make sense. i don't why you kill JA about stuff that hasn't happened and after spending 130 million in 2010, 110 million in 2009, 145 million in 2007, you sy we will not spend any money in 2011. guess no matter what you will kill JA and say he will do nothing even when done the opposite

No big deal either way and costs us Zip..
yes, we should ahve gone out and got every name out there , like the other 31 teams did yesteday at the trading deadline.. oh wait...
i was really impressed with how the packers replaced their non-existant running game with those big moves the last week.. how the vikings made those big name signings to shore up their lame and injured secondary and offensive line.. yes the bears sooo much different than other teams..lol
It's amazing you don't choke on those words.
Grant was picked up over Mark Anderson, who by definition was at least the 45th best player (but we all know higher) on the team. Hell, I think anyone reasonable would believe that Lovie thought he was even higher, since he got significant minutes less than a few days before being cut. If you don't agree with that, then you think Lovie is intentionally trying to lose. You choose which.
As for Grant himself, that only proves that Angelo is terrible at evaluating talent. SUUUUUUUUUUURE, he looked great playing for the Omaha Nighthawks. That dude can play.
But while the band was playing on the prominade deck......there is a huge freakin hole in the side of the ship, on the offensive line side. I took your stupid challenge about finding offensive help that was out there to be had. Didn't hear another word about it from you afterward, and we all know you would have had something to say if you had even the most remote issue with anyone on my list (see all 4,569 argumentative look at me posts for example). Heck, even on people's practice squads there are better linemen than we have.
And no I won't cross reference that info with the list I already gave you or provide you with another list of anything. This isn't about whether I can do internet research that you don't have the desire to do for yourself. It's about a front office that can't get out of their own way. They are a trainwreck. They are a laughing stock. I listen to an NFL scout every Monday afternoon. He's spoken about the state of the Bear's OL several times this year. This past Monday, when asked he said flat out that Jerry Angelo is being laughed at around the league by his peers. He is known far and wide as someone who overpays for underperformers. And the scout said, it's not like Chicago doesn't have talent, they do, just not a full complement of it, and little meaningful depth in most areas.
Phillips doesn't recognize that Angelo should have been gone by now. I'm sure he's still a little punch drunk from the Cutler signing (which I don't have a problem with, btw) so he hasn't yet noticed that Cutler is useless if he can't stand upright.
Angelo isn't good enough. Lovie is too stubborn. Martz is indeed Mad Mike. Either Tice is getting bowled over by Martz or he is just as nuts (lining up Olsen at LT), and if he is getting bowled over by Martz I'm not sure I want him.
I have always been a glass half full realist. Always hopeful, however not blind. I can see that this isn't getting better this year. I think we might just have a couple of wins left in our tank (let's say 3). Hopefully that will cause a turnover. I just hope it is high enough reaching.

Wow you mean ina hard salary cap like all 32 teams, the bears can't afford a full compliment of top starters and top back up's and meaningful depth.. gee that's a shock.. and comes as suprise ..lol

And let's just say for arguments sake the bears instead win 6 or more instead this year..Will that mean your and the scout's "analysis" wrong and maybe just maybe its not as dire as you claim or anytwhere near as bad.. or more if the same "so what? bears still suck and angelo still sucks"// just all lucky wins and doesn't mean a thing
i agree if they only win 3 more they should and will clean house and have NO PROBLEM with that- but can you the opposite, if instead they keep winning at a .750 clip, that the analysis is wrong and they should stay?

you know what DB we all list what makes JA one of the worst gms in the league. Why dont you tell us why he is a good gm

I've done that many times here.. here's just a few Cutler, peppers, briggs, hester, gould etc etc

sorry, should have known I needed to fill in every tiny detail. Scout said that our talent is below average. He listed 2 elite players, 2 very good, 3 above average. He said most clubs have twice the starter talent we do.
And this scout, no matter how much you disagree, is far better than you at talent evaluation. The story was that he was talking to other scouts about the Bears, and they were laughing. I'll repeat, 3 NFL scouts from 3 different teams, discussed the Bears and could not contain themselves. They cracked up at the players that we have on offensive line. This discussion went on for 10 minutes on the radio (with a commercial in the middle). PS - this scout, has 3 SB rings.
If they win 6 more, then obviously something miraculous happened with this pedestrian OL. And let's be sure to note THAT is the subject of discussion. If they win 6 they will be kept, though I'm not sure at this point that I would be pleased to have them stay. Maybe patching the family truckster could get another 20,000 miles out of it. The question is, do we still want a family truckster?
My point is that I've given them (current staff) lot's of "benefit of the doubt" over the last 3+ years, and I'm not sure I have another one in me. I'd never wish anything bad on the Bears, but I do wish we had a different staff. I'm not sure who is better, or who will be available, and worst of all I'm not sure that Ted Phillips could properly evaluate that. I just know when it's time to trade in the ole' family truckster for something new. Repairing the truckster is no longer on the good side of the cost/benefit ratio.
