And sounds like that is exactly what will happen- martz talked about more running AND doing more 3-5 step drops- though also think kreutz/tice have a point about personal responsbility also( and not just olineman, but rb's and te's to stop missing assignments)

Confusing? No, not at all,'' Kreutz said of the numerous protection schemes. "You have to know in the NFL that this is your job. And if you're confused, then put in more freaking work, period. If you can't handle it, you can't play in the NFL.

"We have to get ready for every Sunday what is in our play book. The onus is on the players to get that done. With the coaches, I know what they're thinking: that they're going to help us by scaling back. We have to think as players, we have to help them by learning our (stuff).''

Tice said he was encouraged by the second-half improvement against the Seahawks, but four of Cutler's six sacks came in the second half.

No matter what type of protections Tice plans to use moving forward, Kreutz said the line has to be better prepared.

"Right now would be the worst time to start hiding behind, `Well, this is too much,' and `This guy is not doing his job and this guy is not doing his job.' Just do your freaking job and get better at it, and we'll be all right.''

You know what I knew this oline would be a work in progress but when the oline keeps regressing that is a talent problem. These guys are no where near studs. We have a guy starting on this oline from a teams practice squad that has a shit oline lmfao. I wonder if anyone on this oline would be picked up as a starter on another team highly doubt it.

The part that frustrates me the most though is going forward. To survive this season we will be dumbing down the offense for yet the tenth time in JAs tenure here cause of an incomplete offense talent wise. To fix the oline next year we either will sign a bunch of washed up band aid players or draft a bunch of 4-7th rounders as the fix. Oh yeah that sure will work. So what are we looking at another two more years of a dumbed down offense? What a waste of having a franchise qb. Might as well kept the picks and KO if this is the shit they were going to peddle to us.

And our first two picks will be DB and DT cause our secondary is average and Harris stinks. We all know what holds priority on this team

I'm with you on the prediction that we go 3 technique first in the upcoming draft. If Major Wright proves to be a worthy FS, I think we may grab a strong safety later though. SS's are easier to find nowadays.

not excusing any behavior from sunday, but went back rewatched the sacks.. 3 were on the rb's for missing blocks as the Cb/S went screaming by and either missed the block or had it confused, but can see it was their man, 1 was omiyale with a missed block and 2 were arguably on Cutler for holding to long.

So just IMO alot of that Is correctable, esp as both forte/taylor not bad blockers seemed alot more mental, and by changing to the quicker drops also helps not just cutler with the quicker releases BUT some will be swing plays to forte/taylor also taking away missed assignments- we shall see on monday is does make a differemce

There were communication and assignment problems all over the field against the Seahawks, who to their credit had a bye week to game plan and change their stuff.

The encouraging thing is I rarely saw J'Marcus Webb and Edwin Williams get beat physically.

If those were indeed the RB's guys, I think the Milloy sack with ~5:00 left in the third quarter shows the flaw in their scheme that day. The 1 tech crashes into E. Williams. The 5 tech over Webb loops around that into the A gap. Webb persues him until he realizes the DE is looping too far. Then he back tracks to Milloy, who is already by him.

I don't understand why there weren't dynamic assignments, for instances like that. It would have worked much better if as soon as Webb reads the DE is not responsible for the C gap, then he should be looking outside instead of chasing. It just didn't make a whole lot of sense.

But I agree, mental mistakes are correctable. But they don't need to get cute with the blocking.

Agree they do need better care of assigments and as you said not chase as did on that play. think that was exactly what tice talking about if read between the lines. KISS time

let's just how how the adjust this week, and see if it gets alot better( less switching off, more 3-5 step drops, more 'hot reads" to Te or RB when see the safety blitzes.. and if SO think people are going to be very suprised at the outcome

Tice: I get paid to teach; they get paid to execute

    By Vaughn McClure

Mike Tice doesn't want to hear excuses about players being confused over his numerous protection schemes.

"That's what we get paid to do," the Bears offensive line coach said. "I get paid to teach them, and they get paid to execute them."

Tice said he used about 20 different protection schemes in last week's loss to Seattle, when quarterback Jay Cutler was sacked six times. He previously talked about having 37 different protections at his disposal. And at least one lineman thought only six protections were used against Seattle.

"We've have upwards of 20 (protections) every week," Tice said.

Tice said he continues to sort through which five guys make the line the "most dangerous." The Bears have gone with four different starting offensive line groups through six games.

With Roberto Garza out after knee surgery, Tice inserted former left tackle Chris Williams at left guard and has essentially two rookies on the right side with tackle J'Marcus Webb and guard Edwin Williams.

Frank Omiyale has had his share of problems at left tackle, too. And veteran Olin Kreutz has taken his share of the blame for the communication issues.

It all adds up to 27 sacks, the most allowed by any team in the NFL.
"I see some improvement," Tice said. "I just need to see it every week. We can't afford to take steps backwards. That's what kills you."
