Safety Major Wright, out since the first quarter of the Dallas game with a hamstring strain, practiced on a limited basis for the first time since then. With both starting safeties out with injuries, Wright gets some much-needed extra practice time with the No. 1 defense.
“Very encouraging,” coach Lovie Smith said. “It’s been it seems like forever since we’ve had a chance to work with Major, but he was able to do limited work today. Hamstring is coming along. He should be fresh. I know everything should be healed up except for the hamstring."
Before his injury Wright was in discussions for a starting job and had rotated into veteran Chris Harris’ spot on occasion, including down the crucial final stretch against the Detroit Lions.
He will still need some time before playing himself back into that starter discussion but injuries elsewhere and his own play can accelerate any timetable.
“We should get a fresh, bright-eyed guy when he gets back. We have a couple injuries in the secondary right now, but we’ll be a better football team when Major comes back.”

Though we haven't been desperate to have him back, I look forward to seeing what he brings to the table.

Yep he showed alot in canp and preseason, think also smart to slowly work his way back and not rush him too much- Despite he offseason worries, safety has not been a problem so far in 2010- both harris and Manning have played very well so far and esp. manning, which is a suprise

Major Wright is a monster on the field. He's all over the place. Takes over the game at times.

let's hope so, but we haven't seen more than a quarter of a game yet... So let's hope it does work out that way- but know it will take time

Having Wright and Moore on the field playing well will be a shot in the arm for a defense thats out there a lot more than it should be.

No timetable yet for Major Wright return
By Mark Potashon October 21, 2010 3:14 PM
Bears rookie safety Major Wright, recovering from a pulled hamstring, is back on the practice field, but could not predict when he will play in a game.
''I feel fine. We're taking it day-by-day,'' said Wright, who suffered the injury against the Cowboys in Week 2 at the end of Dez Bryant's 62-yard punt return for a touchdown. ''I'm ready to get back in a game, but with this situation, I don't want to go back out there and re-injure it.''
Being back on the practice field at least broke the monotony of his rehabilitation routine: ''Wake up, come in, treatment,'' he said, ''more treatment, watch film, go in meetings and more treatment.''
He said he's made the most of his time off with extensive film study. Teammate Chris Harris has helped him keep up. ''He's guided me and mentored me,'' Wright said.
Wright said he's not concerned with getting caught up with ''the speed of the game'' after missing five weeks. ''The trainers are helping me get back in good condition and back in the game,'' he said.
With the Bears on a bye next after playing the Washington Redskins on Sunday at Soldier Field, the conventional wisdom is that Wright likely will return Nov. 7 against the Buffalo Bills in Toronto.

I'm looking forward to Wright getting back into it. He is a beast!
Kudos to Chris Harris for mentoring a guy likely to take his job.
