Is Martz's system too complex?
It seems that busts on offense are coming because of Mental Breakdowns at every level of the offense.
The Your Boy Roy Breakdown showed mistakes being made in assignments by everyone on the offense.
Is this system simply to complex for the mental midgets that we have on our offense?

i don't think any scheme is too complex for guys that've played the game most of their lives from peewee to the pros...
what may be an issue is that martz puts too much pressure on the guys by changing up the plays week in and week out
by introducing new plays, formations and protection schemes constantly. this guy reminds me of an instructor i had at
college who gave a quiz every friday based on material outside of our texts. drove the students crazy trying to keep up...

you go from Ron "a monkey could learn it in a day" turner
To Mike "watch this shit" Martz... yeah... there are gonna be bumps and bruises...
but think of it like this... we're getting MAN HANDLED right now... and winning games. WINNING GAMES.
anyone care to predict how things might play out when everyone starts singing off the same sheet of music???...
yeah, we're bad and beating people, and I want to see things get better as bad as anyone... but the reality??.... we're gonna be a dynamite football team for years to come, so long as bear fans don't go all bear fans and start calling for people's heads after 6 games...
wait a minute....

I think it is complex, but I also thought that by now they'd be in more command of it. They seemed to be "getting it" around the Dallas game, but have seemed to regress

anyone play football as a kid?
there were times early on you got it right and it looked good... and you could go 2 games down the road and play like a retard with a sparkler.... all over the field with no coordination...
what we're seing is the learning curve... these guys arn't machines.... they are YOUNG Men, and Learning a top tier (as far as complexity) Offense...
I honestly believe (and Kurt Warner said it) it takes about 2-3 years to Master.... about 1-2 to get "good" at it...
we're still gonna have bumps and bruises, but we're on the right road. I just dont want to see us stop, and change direction next year.... imagine being a player and having to learn 3 systems in 3 years....
I'd be saying, screw the paychecks, screw this club, give me continuity...
we sat on Turner too long...we should have had Martz in as soon as we landed cutler...
we just have to Grin and Bear it..... why? cause it WILL BE WORTH IT.

That is a good point that we are still winning with guys screwing up.
I guess my fear is that the learning curve is causing Jay Cutler to get killed and we need to fix some of the problems with a littlemore urgency than simply getting on the same page.
I guess we need to exhibit some patience.

just like any system you need the players that can execute it to be successful. We do not have the go to wrs or the proper oline to run this system. Said this all offseason

As for Cutler not getting killed before we can "get there" is the one thing that scares the piss out of me...
I like Hanie and all.... but Cutler is very much suited for this offense, and the recievers are too despite the criticism... we've seen Olsen, Hester, Knox, even Aromashodu make all the plays we'd like to see get made... it's just that conistency thing...
once it comes together we're all gonna be giddy little school girls.

You can debate the over complexity many ways. I just don't agree with Martz stubbornness. You have a qb who can roll out and also make plays from the shotgun. Until guys can become more reflexive in the playbook memorization you play to your qb's strength. I'm sure a "mad genius" can make rollouts and shotgun as simple or also as complex as needs dictate.
Arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win your still messed up.

I honestly think even with our offensive line as "bad" as it is, if the proper adjustments were made, we could have won both games we lost so far. Shorter passes if the QB is under duress. Run the ball more. CALL AUDIBLES.
