Is there any hope? It's sad to say... it's looking more and more that the answer lies in a rhyme for "hope". And it starts with an "N"

From the outside looking in, you do have talent on your team, mostly on defense/special teams, but some on offense as well. Your offensive line reminds me of the Packers line last season; it shows flashes of being there on some plays, and shows flashes of being nothing more than speed bumps for defenders others. The rest of your season is probably going to hinge on whether or not the line and Cutler decide to play well or poorly. You have a QB who already makes poor decisions, but putting him behind that line only magnifies that problem.

I think your team owner needs to fire JA and send Lovie packing and bring in a GM who will actually put emphasis on having at least a semblance of an NFL caliber offensive line and a HC who will make smarter decisions and bring in an offense that plays to your strengths, not weaknesses. An OC that will reign in Cutler and either correct his issues or not allow him to be in the game long enough to throw 4 picks to one defender

Your defense and special teams seem to be good to great most every season (hence you barely lost today despite throwing 4 interceptions). Get a more fitting coaching staff in place, replace most of your offensive line, get Cutler's head screwed on straight, and bring in another receiver or two and you'll be a complete team. Most of the pieces of the puzzle are there, you just need to add a few more and find someone that will put them together correctly. There are still 9 games to go, and a lot can change in 9 games.
Thanks for the objective assessment Evernight. When you watch your team make mental mistakes to throw yet another game away, it's hard to be objective. It's nice to get an "outsiders" view. Outsider meaning you aren't a Bears fan.

I agree 100% with your post. Jay will be fine IF, we bring in an OC, or Martz can rein in Jay's poor decision making. It reminds me of the Holmgren days in GB when Favre was breaking out. Lot's of great plays, but critical mental mistakes causing the team to lose.

    Evernight,

Nice to get an outiders input! Sounds like were going through the same things in seperate years! I still believe you need a running game to win football games, and until we can establish one, this won't get any easier! Again, thanks for the input!

Your run game will improve with better linemen as well (unless you have the second coming of Barry Sanders on your team, who probably could have found a way to score even if he was the only offensive player on the field). I know your line has been brutal for you to watch (as it was for me to watch last season), but it really can only improve from where it's at now unless JA continues to ignore it. Watching defenders get into the backfield faster than your quarterback is never a good thing. A few fractions of a second worth of blocking could literally mean the difference between a sack, a stuffed run, a Favre imitation INT, a completed pass, or a big run.

Cutler, on the other hand, is a harder problem to read. He's shown he can make all the throws when he wants to, I saw that in our horrible game against you guys a few weeks ago. But do you give him time to throw, or is it better to give him very little time? Too little time and he obviously gets sacked or forces in a bad pass, but too much time and he seems to over think what he's doing (which seems to be what happened on at least two of his picks to Hall where he seemed to have ample time to find a target and get them the ball). He really is a very talented QB, but stubbornness and over thinking are going to do him in (if his line doesn't do that first).

You need to hire an OC that will make him more malleable, make him listen, kick him down a few notches and get him seeing straight. That's exactly what we had to do with Favre when Holmgren came into town, and it did wonders for him. We then saw the exact opposite happen when Sherman came in and let Favre do whatever the hell he wanted without repercussions. They're a bit like projectiles in a way, if they have no guidance or direction they just explode any way they want to. Put them in a tube and point them in a direction, however, and they become deadly.

Or is the problem not that he is over thinking it EN, but the fact that he cannot trust the wr's to be/do what they are supposed to so he is taking to long to release the ball.

This loss was painfull, they had so many opportunities to simply put the game away. How could they let that slip away, the redskins fans have got to be thinking everything fell into their lap to somehow get a win.
