The bears defense is solid yet our stats look good because of some of the crap teams we have played. The second half of the season will be a bigger test for the D that has very little help from the offense.

bears have played the #3, #9 and #11 O's so far for not playing crap O's.
in the 2nd 1/2 we get the #11, #13, #17 #19 and #20( twice)- Do not see that any better and actually worse than the first 1/2

300 yards is what the #5 "D" in pitts gives up each week on average, i'd hardly in this day and age call 300 yards "tearing it up"

and they ran the ball alot more and actually had better TOP the first 4 games then did with big ben, thus making their "D" stats better as on the field for less plays.
just saying.. and that doesn't change the point of giving up 300 yards a week would make team top 5 in the league as 300 yards is NOT tearing up a "D"
Barring a more consistent and productive pass rush and the rest of the line taking more heat off Peppers this defense, with a core of star players desperate for success as their years sadly start to catch up with them, has been a breath of fresh air. With all the heat rightfully coming Martz's way, Marinelli's good work is getting buried.
Even without the sack count, this defense really does deserve better from their GM, HC, OC, OL and, sad to say it given the beating he's taken in previous weeks, now their QB.
I've really enjoyed watching this D develop this season.

Its "getting lost" because it doesnt mean a damn thing if they cant win games. D can be #1 in all stat columns, and if we lose...what does it matter?
