Cutler confirmed Wednesday, as he did immediately after the game, that he would do exactly the same thing if he were to face Hall the very next day.

And his coach declared that Hall was, well, lucky.

“What had happened, actually, is Hall was a guy that was way off [Bears receivers] all the time,” coordinator Mike Martz said. “That’s why they completed more passes to him than any other corner.

“And he guessed. He guessed is what he did. He just flat guessed, and he guessed right on the pick…. He guessed right.”

So either the cornerback was lucky, or the quarterback was persistently stupid.

    ..... just to reiterate:

Bears offensive coordinator Mike Martz was asked about quarterback Jay Cutler's confidence level Wednesday after his four-interception performance against the Redskins.

"If you know Jay, then you'd know not to ask that question," Martz said. "Jay is a strong man, and he's very, very strong emotionally and he's confident and I'm not concerned."

Martz tried to help Cutler by throwing more short passes against Washington. And from the looks of things, there may be more short passes in the Bears' future.

"We had a lot of short passes, mostly because of what we were seeing, and yet they were just ... still trying to move some things around and try to get Matt (Forte) the ball a little more out of the backfield, moving him around," Martz said.

"Those are things now that they're more comfortable with than maybe they weren't as comfortable with before. As we move on, there are things that maybe we can be a little more complex and move in and out of as we need them. This is what we're doing and they understand things way better than they did a month ago and they're so much better than they were three weeks ago."

Without prompting, Martz mentioned four players who he thought performed well Sunday: wide receiver Earl Bennett and offensive linemen J'Marcus Webb, Frank Omiyale and Olin Kreutz.

"There were some really strong performances out of guys that we need to have play well, so there's some encouraging things that came out of that we can build on," Martz said. "Mike (Tice) has done really remarkable when you look at it with all the different changes and the job he's done with J'Marcus Webb, in particular. You know he's a good pass blocker but doggone, he put his shoulder pads down in the run game and did a great job."
Didn't also flat out say for a few straight weeks that we need to run more and still not run more? And every week he says he are doing good and getting better?

I don't believe anything Martz says.

I'm not saying they should unveil their preparation and game planning. But don't tell us the rainbow is coming out when all we see are storm clouds.

I think this is 3rd straight week they're talking about balance, where is it? We're not getting blown out don't see the need for a 73% pass rate. Shuffle line tell us it's improving, I understand you can't come out and say Player X is a turd, I'm just more saying it gets old week after week, when I'm seeing little on the field besides our D and then the stats make me throw up in my mouth.

I'm just saying they SHOULDN"T tell the media or us what they will do next week( and seems you agree)

So the idea of complaining when they blow smoke seems absurd, esp when you know and expect it..

So they appease the media and tell them what they want to hear, so not to give them "ammunition and negative headliens to distrct the team".. well kudos for that!..

Seriously, what *exactly* do you want them to say?

to me its 'old" on both sides.. i'm sick of the media asking the same dumb question and "leading questions" hoping to get a negative sound byte they can turn into a huge flame on bears and whatever sucker falls for it..and call them u for throwing "X,Y and Z" under bus..

i loved when peggy tries to get cutler to throw people under the bus yesterday and he didn't bite, but she is "mad" today he played with her? as said dammned if do, dammned if dont

Culter rest? Didn't he just have 1-1-1/2 weeks off from his concussion?

Here's why I'm complaining, you say you need balance, you need more run for weeks now, but yet we abandon the run in the 2nd half of every game we've been in (save Carolina Collins puke). STFU and stop saying it in your weekly pressers than, I'm not a child, if you don't intend to correct things don't even say it. It's like they know what to work on but refuse to do it and lie to themselves and fans each week.

I'm not convinced Lovie has any control what-so-ever over Martz, maybe it's a deal they worked out before he joined, "you let me do my thing and stay out of my way." Maybe he's afraid to disrespect his old boss.

Do we even still have Kahlil Bell?

Ah well, it just stings more when you're losing bad football games and to sit and watch every snap knowing what I'm going to hear from the coaches all next week.

So when bill bellichek says the same thing each week in his pressers- and the team does the opposite, why doesn't anyone complain? or call him on it.. or when he puts his whole team on the "doubtful list"..

The league 'forces" them to do the presser, and they can't remain silent( even though you know they want to)- so they do the next best and say the same..

And guess we just differ in that WE BOTH KNOW what theya re going to say, and yet somehow you complain and are suprised they do it? even though you say know they will?.. Guess just seems a waste to me

    It's lies

"We have to run more. Find balance."
    44 passes 16 rushes
    ERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR FAIL

And as far as Bellichek goes this isn't DaPats.com I could give a flying doodie squiggle what that skank in a hoodie says about anything. Do you think I spend an iota of time watching a Pats press conference? I'm talking about our team and the mismanagement and poor communication that seems to be running rampant throughout.

We gonna run, we gotta run, it's essential to run.

*GAMEDAY* - everyone turns to Martz

    Martz: PASS!
