I think the Bears best football is in front of them. The football season is a marathon, not a sprint. I'm hoping the o-line at least becomes average (for 2010). Stay tuned.
hmmmmmmm........interesting Jeff. All great points. And I wish I shared your enthusiasm.

However, I honestly don't see them getting past the Bills next week. If they do, I'm sure it will be in overtime by 3.

~ Vikings, in OUR home will hand us our asses. Just like Seahawks/Redskins did.
    ~ Dolphins...in THEIR home......game's over already.
~ Eagles...????? LOL!!!! Better just close your eyes for that one.
~ Lions.....well, Lions are always "iffy".

You think "the BEARS best football is in front of them".

No disrespect to you by any means Jeff.....but, I think the BEARS are still yet to show us depths of "pathetic" that we never thought imaginable.

As long as there are embarrassing NFL "records" to be broken.......the BEARS always find a way.

I have ZERO faith in this franchise, and even less in this pathetic poor excuse for an NFL Contender.

As stated in another thread this morning:

No one seemed interested in embracing the cold facts — this offense is in worse shape than it was a year ago. After seven games, nearly half the season, the Bears rank at or near the bottom in many crucial offensive statistics. They're 32nd on third down, 32nd in sacks, 32nd in interceptions, 31st in the red zone, 30th in yardage, 29th in rushing, 29th in passer rating, 27th in time of possession, 26th in points ... and so on.

It's a cavalcade of offensive meltdowns.

~ The Bears cannot score from the 1-yard line, or at least they haven't in 10 tries.

~ They set an NFL record with nine sacks allowed in one half.

~ Cutler tied another record by throwing four interceptions to the Redskins' DeAngelo Hall.

... They're not just failing. They're failing spectacularly.

~ They've converted 5 of 53 third downs since halftime of the Green Bay game Sept. 27, the last time they played winning football against a decent opponent.

Win the next 5 games in a row????

A snow ball has a better chance in hell.

But we did take a rb and give him a top 5 pick deal. The wrong part is we took him and allowed team politics to ruin it. With the way our offense was I had no problem with the dual rb.
Imagin what Benson and Forte would have looked like.

    They could have traded down.

Last season Benson was the 2nd most productive back and Jones was the 4th.
In 2008 Jones was #8. (Benson was #21)

Thomas Jones averages about (4) yards a carry. Since 2003.

Benson was NOT needed. It is pretty telling that BOTH Benson and Jones move on to different teams and find success. Could it be because of a neglected O-Line...!!!

The hate mail won't be coming from me. One thing I like about message boards is getting alternate or different view points.

Befor I respond, I want you to understand, I freeking HATE Jerry Angelo. It pains me to defend him in any way.
However, I do try to be a guy who realises reality and maintain objectivity.
I don't know that they didn't TRY to trade down. Looking back at that year, who wanted to pick in that position?
You want to say Benson was not NEEDED? You are right. But at that time the RB position was not elite, and an upgrade was not out of the question. Now you are about to hand out a big ass contract to a rookie and it is going to have to be a skill position.
Angelo is not a good GM, but Benson was a good pick at the time. 4th overall, you draft best player on the board, and he was.

Agree, we should ahve use more middle picks for 0lineman, no argument from me there, but disagree about the #1 picks, esp when paid $30 mill for tait, grabbed r brown miller and Garza that also should be using top picks on olineman.. Do not think fair to not include we had used free agency for olineman in 2003-2007 for WHY no top picks
    2002 was 9 drafts ago, not 8.

You do have a point. It is just that looking back on seasons past, it is DIFFICULT to give them the benefit of the doubt...!!!

About JA and the o-line, I was just saying that once R. Brown and Fred Miller were done (Tait wasn't the same either), the o-line should have been more of a priority and deserved upper round picks (at least 2nd or 3rd round). I won't split hairs over upper or middle rounds, but I see other teams get pretty good o-linemen in the upper (1-3) rounds. I've read the statistics about how many o-linemen are mid to late round picks, but that doesn't mean elite tackles and guards aren't also drafted in the upper rounds. With the state of our o-line we need at least two of our first three picks in 2011 to be o-linemen. With Cutler at QB I don't want Omiyale at LT, but rather a premier LT to protect Cutler's blindside.
the "problem" which many looking to bash JA, is "ignoring" we didnt ahve a top pick in 2009 or 201o, so not fair,IMO to say we didn't pick use a top pick on Oline- when didn't. So when talking after that era( 2007 and one..)

And in 2007, everyone was screaming for a TE and Olsen was the best out there, and 'at time" no one was saying it was a bad pick and in 2008 we DID USE THE TOP PICK FOR A O LINEMAN and 2009 and 2010 didn't have a top pick so even if wanted couldn't..

just saying more to it then the silly 'well we didn't use it the last 4 years.. when 2 didn't have a pick used in one of the other makes it look completely different

Yes we should ahve used more middle picks agree, just saying when "ignore" he didn't have top picks and complain about it wrong
