    WindyCity 2011 Bye Week Mock

    1[16] WR Julio Jones [Alabama] 6’4” 220lbs.

The Bears do not have any size at the WR position and it has caused Jay to struggle. When Cutler had Brandon Marshall it compensated for his gun slinging mentality. The big body allowed for a throw to be off and still turn into a big play. Jones has great size and strength and should run well at the combine. It is hard to accurately assess Jones, because he plays in such a weak passing system.

    2[48] OG Mike Pouncey [Florida] 6’4” 313lbs.

Pouncey has struggled at center, but could start day 1 at RG for the Bears. Pouncey has elite physical tools and is solid in pass and run situations.

    3[80] DT Kenrick Ellis [Hampton] 6’5” 335lbs.

The Bears may be switching coaches next season and could be switching defensive systems. Ellis provides scheme versatility along with exceptional size and athletic ability. He can also protect Brian Urlacher, like Washington and Trailor, and extend his career.

    4. OT Cory Brandon [OU] 6’7” 325lbs.

A RT prospect needs to be brought in as the Bears lacked size and physicality at the position until Webb took over. Brandon is similar to Webb and would provide young OT depth.

    5. CB Shareece Wright [USC] 5’11” 185lbs.

The Bears need to keep adding to the CB talent pool and have done well in later rounds with players like D.J Moore and Zach Bowman.

    6. C Colin Baxter [Arizona] 6’4” 296lbs.

If you looked up what position is drafted late and has the most success it is centers. Baxter is a physical player that can be groomed or start in an emergency. Has the intelligence to make calls like Olin Kreutz.

More good prospects. Brandon playing w/Webb would be a scary proposition. I think we would be behind the evolutionary trend by a few years if we adopted a 3-4. With the emergence of D.J Moore, Jennings, and J.Moore red-shirting I would say getting more FS depth would be better as those instincts and skills are hard to come by.
Arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win your still messed up.

I think this is a good Mock, but you made one mistake, Bears will be picking at 1[32] :D

I REALLY don't want another young WR on this team. I would LOVE Ellis in round 3, but some 3-4 team will make him a 1/2 pick if he works out even decently this offseason.

    Here's mine...

    1-C-Wiz
    2-OG-Cannon
3-Marvin Austin-I could give two shits less about his suspension. DUDE IS A BEAST. Obviously that's a dream, so I'll say Christian Ballard instead. Love Iowa's D and he's a very underrated piece of it.
    4.RB--Kendell Hunter
    5.OT-Marcus Gilbert
    6.CB-DeMarcus Van Dyke
    7.P-Chas Henry or Ryan Donahue.

I admit round 4 & 5 are wishful thinking with their play this year, but who cares?

This could be the most important position on the line to fill first. Kreutz is obviously not what he once was and is getting older each game he steps on the field. Might be wise to consider a Center to start getting prepped for Olin's departure.
