Where is the option for both. Chicago deserves a SB in the city, and having a retractable roof would go a long way to getting that done.

This is what's all about? The Super Bowl? You guys want a Dome just for ONE game? Come on.

Yes for one game. And the fact that a retractable roof makes a bunch of since. Actually I don't even buy into bear weather anymore, a few years ago Atl went up and beat GB in GB in Dec or Jan. These guys are from all over the country now, and they play all over the country year round. It's not like we have a bunch of guys on this team from Wisc, IL, Mich, Montana, IN and Oh. We have guys from the South, that went to school in the south, and in the offseason get the hell out of IL and return back to the south; you really think they like playing in "bear weather"? REALLY?

Open. Forever and Always Open. Football is the ONLY outdoor sport in American that plays in ALL weather (excluding lightning), thats why its a man's sport. Wanna play in a dome? Move to New Orleans, i hear they need people.

Yea great to see Bear fans being traditional. Weather is a factor if you remember i think 2008 when the saints came up here in bad weather and we won the game. That wasn't skill that won that game for us either don't kid yourself. But a lot of ppl and "experts" don't point out its a factor for both teams not just the team going into the bad weather. Having said that keep it open , if i want to see the town of Chicago involved with the super bowl i want it to be because the Bears are in it not because other teams are in it and playing in Chicago. That would be a big tease for me as a passionate Bears fan. Sorry I'm not an NFL fan if the Bears are not playing.

Bear weather doesn't just apply to the Players...

I was at the Bears vs Packers in 07 when it was -15 PLUS windchill and it was the best game I've ever been too. I had hand warmers in my boots, and my feet were STILL frozen stiff. didnt' matter, didnt' care. it was colder than a witches titty in a brass Bra and I freaking LOVED IT.

Was that the Monday nighter? Coldest in soldier field history? I was there. Great game.

I've been to enough games now to observe that the really cold games are the most fun because every one there WANTS to be there. It's a fun, electric crowd. I was at last year's monday night game vs. the Vikings, in December. The Bears were clearly out of the playoff mix. But the crowd was loud and rowdy because mostly die hards were in attendance (except for the Cadillac club of course). Plus, we wanted to piss on Favre's home field advantage.

In contrast, I was at the last game against the Redskins. It was pretty mild outside. And this may not go over well because it's going come across as chauvinistic.... but there were tons of couples there. Guys with their girlfriends. And while some women are there for the game and are great fans, I'd say most were there to hang out, people watch, and had no clue what was going on. Then you have all the corporate seats being occupied by upper level execs, who again, mostly have no clue as to what is really going on and are more interested in entertaining guests. If it's single digit temperatures outside, the suits are giving those seats away and the mildly interested girlfriends/friends are not going.

tl;dr - The die hard fans are in full force at the cold games. The fair weather fans don't go.

And I don't disagree that football is played in all conditions; but reality is that not ALL football is played in all conditions. As long as you don't claim "Bear weather" as some kind of imaginary advantage; as if some teams can't play in bad weather, or Chicago is the only one w/big scary winds and sub zero weather. All teams have players from all parts of the country, some are going to be effected some aren't; it's not a team or regional thing. If you believe it should be played in shitty weather that's fine; and part of me agrees, but the other part of me says that there are times when protection from extremely shitty weather would be nice too.
