CB Stanford Routt [Oakland] 5 years 18 million/6 guaranteed
Draft
1[17] WR Michael Floyd [Notre Dame] 6'3" 225lbs.
The Bears need to improve the OL, and that is a given. But Jay Cutler is not a pin point accurate pocket passer and is most effective when he has a big target to throw too. Michael Floyd does two things that the Bears WRs cannot do, stand 6'3" and run precise routes.
2[49] C Kristofer O'Dowd [USC] 6'5" 300lbs.
Olin Kreutz has been a warrior for the Bears, but with declining play and an expiring contract he is done as a Bear. O'Dowd has the size and intelligence to start as a rookie.
3[81] CB Jalil Brown [Colorado] 6'1" 205lbs.
The Bears CBs are solid. but they truly lack a shut down player at the CB position. Brown has the physical tools to be a shut down CB.
4. OG Clint Boling [Georgia] 6'5" 315lbs.
The Bears need some hard working, lunch pale, punch you in the mouth on every play type OLmen. Boling does not have elite physical tools, but he will battle at LG.
5. DT Ted Laurent [Mississippi] 6'1" 305lbs.
The Bears need to find someone to step in and replace Tommie Harris. Clifton Ryan can start, but Laurent brings some nice size and explosion to the middle of the defense.
6. LB Kenny Rowe [Oregon] 6'2" 245lbs.
The Bears have a great starting LB core, but age and injuries are always a concern. Rowe also brings the ability to put his hand in the dirt on 3rd down.
