I only hope it's not a short lived proposition based on pressure from the outside. Hope it's strategic not reactive.

In order to beat Minnesota next week, we will have to do more of this very same game plan.

i think more runs to the outside than inside, esp. since the vikes aren't the no. 33 ranked team in the league....

I wonder the same thing if it was pressure from the outside. I hope it's not and we continue to balance this out from week to week. I'm certainly not saying we have to have more run plays than pass, but if we can get a lead it helps to be able to run the football and work the clock.
Next problem is actually having our Running Backs do some of the running instead of our QB. LOL

It helps to have a balanced offense. We aren't the '85 or even the '06 Bears when it comes to being able to balance pass with run (though I say this knowing full well that I may be castigated for saying that the '06 team had a balanced offense when Rex Grossman was never a guarantee for any kind of accurate passing). I remember in 2007 when we still had Ron Turner as our OC. Despite not having a stellar ground game that year, he never gave up on the run. Later in the year, Adrian Peterson became our lead runner, even if only averaged 3.5 +/- per carry, and I do believe that he posted at least one 100 yard rushing performance because of Lovie's commitment to the run. This team can do that, and we have a better core of running backs than that squad did. It kept the pressure off of Cutler, and allowed him to play, as one article on ESPN Chicago put it, nearly flawless football.
