Folks, I need your help......forget the fact that I'm from Chicago and have been a Cowboys fan my entire life. My big brother, like the rest of my family, is a die-hard Chicago Bears fan -- to the extent I've watched tears roll down his face when the Bear's lose a game. As you might imagine, I was not exactly popular at home on gamedays. He still maintains that Walter Payton is the greatest player that ever lived. His goal since childhood was to be a professional football player but as he inherited our mother's height 5'5" that was a non-starter. So instead he's become THE true-blue Bear's fan instead memorizing countless statistics and following everything that happens with the team.
He's also my big brother and simply one of the best men I've ever known. To that end, I'm compelled to ask for your assistance on his behalf.
My sister-in-law gave him a trip to the Football Hall of Fame for his birthday last October. While there, as one might expect, a number of pictures were taken and one of them happened to be selected as the Week Five Hall of Fame Fan Superbowl Contest winner -- now it comes down to votes. Apparently a Steeler's fan is currently leading -- aside from it being my brother, as a Cowboy fan that really trips my trigger. ;)
I've now e-mailed everyone I know asking for assistance but thought turning to other true-blue Bear's fans might help. I ask that you follow this link:
http://www.profootballhof.com/super_bowl_contest_finalists.aspx and vote for my big brother's picture (Week 5). Jon, his wife and both sons are all in the photo and since they're all wearing Bear's jerseys it's hard to mistake which photo it is.
The voting period ends Monday, January 10th at 5 p.m.
So to recap my reasons for posting here:
1) I am a Cowboys fan and I can't stand seeing anything Steeler related win! ;)
2) By helping my brother consider it helping a recently retired Sailor (me!)
3) It's a darned good picture and.....
4) He's my big brother!
And just so no one is irritated and in case you missed it above, I chose this thread as I am a recently retired Sailor. My sincerest thanks in advance for any and all help you folks can give.
Very Respectfully,
Charlie
