He is getting older, but at one time, you have to admit, he was a hell of a ballplayer. If I had a team full of players that put out the kind of effort he did, I'd definitely win more than I would lose.

He also is a member of our site here too. I went back and forth via email for awhile with him and he joined up although doesn't have much time to check in.

I'll bet by the same logic you think Cutler will throw an interception every time he passes. If you took the time to look up Clark's stats you would probably be surprised that he had 0 fumbles in '09 and despite someone mentioning the possibility that he isn't playing this year because of a fumble, he has zero this year as well. So what are you basing your decision on other than the possible statement someone made in error? He had ONE fumble on his stats for 2008. That's only one fumble in three years, and hardly a "reason" to decide that every time he has the ball he will fumble.

I got ahold of Dez on facebook and asked him why he wasn't playing. He responded to me.

"I/We/Bear fans miss you Des. You were one of the first ball players that got on line and responded to both news people and us Bears fans. I loved that you were honest and candid. So did you maybe piss off Martz or Lovie and end up stuck to the bench for something you said? Was it because of a missed pass weeks ago and they're being jerks about it? What's really going on? I miss you out there on the field and think someone is making a big mistake keeping you benched. There's a lot of us at DaBears.com wondering. Stay strong if they're trying to put you down Des. You have a lot of fan support."

"People automatically assume that but its not true. They said I'm doing everything they ask me to do but have yet to give me an explanation for not playing me. Just that I'm doing what they are asking me to do. One day I may write a book about the whole thing and really let people in on my true feelings"

Man, I hate it for the poor guy. I think that we should use some more two TE sets, but that would NEVER fly in Mike Martz's system. Hell, it is killing him to put the ball in Greg Olsen's hands right now. Desmond Clark is a brilliant blocking tight end, better than GO, yet we're wasting all of that talent.

Then, instead of just making him ride the pine, they should just cut him. If they had no plans to use him this season, they should have cut him. I'm pretty sure that I read somewhere that he barely made the team during training camp.
