I think Soldier Field should be a lot like that.
Don't forget the $100 skybox pizza. Beer is nearly that of other venues from what I hear there.
Arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win your still messed up.

For a beer and a hotdog, I think it was like 12 bucks or something

3nagurski I feel your pain. Why the hell do these people building new venues reduce seating capacity? In Colorado Springs, CO they were building a new arena so they could pull in some quality concerts, conventions, local Colorado College hockey games, numerous large high school graduations, etc. The seating started out at around 25,000, then it was whittled down to 15,000, and finally in somebodies infinite wisdom it was dropped down to a scrawny little 8,000 seats. There was a reason for this though. The builder's little princess fancied herself the next Olympic figure skating queen and daddy wanted a first class place for that to happen. He also didn't want the unsavory crowds that come with the thug life rap concerts or the dope smoking hippy types at rock concerts. Most bands won't book such a small venue, so his plan was hatched to keep the number of seats down low. They do have some concerts, but it's usually some group or one member of an old band that was hot in the 60s or 70s. They rarely fill up the joint with bands like that.
Why the football stadium builders would reduce the number of seats though is insane! The same thing goes for race tracks. There was a race track built here with the hopes of attracting Nascar racing. Nascar wants at least 120,000 seats to even consider a track worthy. They could feel safer with 200,000 seats that would assure a classic Nascar track. The local idiots only put in just under 43,000 seats. A perfectly smooth track sits empty along with the entire place. Nascar said to even get one of their minor events they needed at least 80,000 seats. Bad planning left these clowns with a multi million dollar flop.
The planners of football stadiums worry too damn much. What if we build 100,000 seats and nobody comes? Will we have enough space for parking? Are there enough hotels in the area to accommodate large crowds? Well to these assholes that worry too much and then build too few seats. I say, "If you would have built it, they would have come." Dumb shits! I know that Denver season tickets are sold out for at least 50 years into the future. They built the new stadium with only one more seat than the old one had (75,001) and then to make sure they had parking, they built it so high up that there really is a nose bleed possibility! You can't even see a kicked football from the upper seats. I know because I went to last seasons Bear Bronco game to watch my favorite QB Orton against our new kid QB Cutler. Why would they only put one more seat in the stadium?!? They could have sold every ticket if they put in 100,000. So they go all the way back to 1961. That whole year they had fewer fans than they have in one single game now. What if? What if we build more seats and then have another bad year? It's that kind of lame logic that make these planners and builders freak out. Everybody knows that if we ran things it would run a lot smoother.

I could be wrong.
The old Soldier held 74,000.

I blame the Cubs fan piece of the Bears fan base for their adoration and idolatry of crappy stadiums. People boosted up Soldier to be this historic and untouchable stadium the same way people won't let go of that utter shithole on Sheffield. So, Ginny raped the taxpayers for the renovation to keep that "nostalgic" marketing edge and basically handed over Soldier to the city for good.

Soldier Field is pretty darn nice and I can't say I hate it but, like most fans, I wish it was bigger and that the park district didn't handle the field. Next time, they should add a retractable roof.

They could save money on a retractable roof by handing out free vagisil to the fans who want one.
