Bears that Deserve New Contracts
As we saw with the Redskins and Donovan McNabb this is where teams start to negotiate and resign their up coming free agents.
Is there anyone on the Bears that deserves a long term contract extension?
TE Greg Olsen, he is not elite, but he is a very good in house talent that can catch the ball and stretch the seam. I would get a deal in place because some team is going to make a run at him and we would not want to be in the stituation where we need to franchise tag him.
S Daniel Manning, he is establishing himself as a solid safety and a playmaker in the secondary and most importantly he is not busting as much. Add in his special teams value and I think someone will make a serious run at him.
LB Pisa Tinaisamoa, he is the perfect compliment to Urlacher and Briggs and he plays a physical fast football that has helped against the run. At 30 years old we might get him on a 4 year contract.
CB Corey Graham, I am not convinced that he could not play on the regular defense and he is a special teams ace who should be resigned for a couple more years at least.
LS Patrick Mannely, consistenty and cheap just what you want in a long snapper.

I agree about Graham, though I'm not sure that the front office/Lovie do.
I think Izzy should be under consideration. IIRC he signed a 4 yr contract in 2006, so should be up.
Aromashadu is up after this year, not being used as much as I like, but should be.
Nick Roach should be resigned, he is up after this year.
Anthony Adams should be resigned, he is up after this year.
There probably are more, I don't have the time to research them right now.

I think #1 should be Toe and #2 should be Manning. Other then that I would hold onto salary cap space and see what we can use for a LG,C,RT, or WR. Guys like Adams and Pisa would prob be allowed to see what thy can get in open market before accepting minimum deals to return lol. Olsen can pout all he wants he shouldnt be a top priority this offseason.

Roach, Manning, Graham, Adams and Izzy.
I bet JA will cut Graham. You guys know what he did to our special teams ace last offseason...

I'd like to get Shaw back and give the axe to Wolfe. I think we will sign everyone worthy and before everyone else like always.
Arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win your still messed up.

Problem with letting Shaw go came down to being able to contribute depth to the defensive roseter as well, and sadly it was our ridiculous depth at LB, and Needs in the secondary that probably made that the most logical decision.

Why wouldnt we want to franchise tag Olsen if it came to that? Its not like we are talking QB/RB/DE/WR money here.

Johnny Knox. We have to lock up a young deep ball threat who's playing like a legit #1 WR

I think players should play out their contract first and the ones who are up should be looked at.

that makes far too much sense and presupposes that athletes operate under the guise of common sense
