IMO, to score in the red zone, you have to be effective in the running game. With such a short field, it's imperative to consistently score.
I will give the Dolphins defense props tonight. They played hard the entire game. At one point, the Miami team reminded me of the Bears from earlier in the season. Their defense kept them in the game, but ultimately they were on the field too long. Cameron Wake was a beast for them at LB. I also thought Langford and McDaniel played well on the line.
Overall, I'm pleased with what I saw. The OL has made big strides since that Giants game, but they still have a lot of work to do if the Bears are going to make noise in the playoffs. I still think last weeks win was a better overall performance by the team.
That Giants game was the low point for us this year, followed by a close second in the game against the Redskins, which was a game we SHOULD have won. Cameron Wake is the real deal; I can see why Ja'marcus Webb was loathe to block him and instead, always got called for a holding penalty when attempting to hold him off. Cutler was sacked, what, twice tonight? We managed to hold off one of the better pass rushing defenses in the NFL this season to just two sacks that I'm aware of, one of which was credited to Cam Wake.
I like how the OL is starting to run block. People are going to look at me like I'm crazy for saying this, but you could see a marked improvement in their run blocking skills in the Vikings game because we ran the ball for 130 yards. I think we are capable of running the ball for 120-130 yards per game from here on out, and that will continue to help us take the pressure off Cutler, who is playing more "judiciously", as "Gimpy" Joe Theisman kept saying he must do.

Since the bye its all been improvement.
Hard to knock anything after a blanking of the Dolphins on the road.
Thats what scares me ... with a 20 game lead ... they will turn into the locker room Cubs.

That's why I'm a Yankees fan, jackie!

What a great game; Cutler lucked out a few times w/a couple dropped int's, but the run game looked good; the OL did look good; except for Webb, Taylor probably had his longest run of the year called back b/c of a Webb hold. The D looked amazing, it's crazy what you can do when you get big boys up front to stop the run, and edge guys that can use speed, and bull rush tatics to get to the qb. It's helping keeping the OL off our LB's, ecspecially Url who can reak havoc if he doesn't have a 350 guy riding him.
Lets keepg this all in perspective though, 3rd center, 3rd qb on a short week; our D should have done exactly what they did.
This team should have 3 more wins in it at least. The OL does seem to be gelling nicely to, and our OC seems to now understand that running can help open up some of those pass plays he wants. I think I saw 21 passes to 28 runs, at least at one point, 4 runs by Cutler makes it 25 to 24 pass to run ratio; excelent!

Defensively maybe. Special Teams, sure. But the offense only managed ONE TD. 10x better NO. 2x...much more realistic.

Obviously the thick, evenly spread sarcasm was lost somewhere in that post...

I read it a couple times and couldn't decide whether it was sarcastic, or you fell down and hit your head or were abducted by aliens.
This team is moving in the right direction. ST and D are very, very good. Our O line is just getting to the "average" level, with much work to do. One week at a time is my motto for the offense. Without them continuing to improve, we'll have a hard time winning the division, yadda, yadda, yadda.

In all honesty, I am beginning to agree. I think Martz/Lovie have finally realized that the playbook should suit the players, not the other way around. I am not completely sold just yet, but, they have made some nice adjustments (2) games in a row now.
