Did anybody see how the NFL Network was breaking down the Bears/Eagles game today? They specifically targeted J'Marcus Webb's ineptitude at blocking a fierce pass rush, as was evidenced by his struggles last Thursday night against the Dolphins. While some of the fouls called against him were ticky-tack, he did get called for penalties four times. He also gets thrown around by guys who are much smaller than him. If it wasn't for the fact that this offensive line is blocking so much better now than the other combinations we've had this did, I'd say take J'Marcus Webb out and insert someone, ANYONE, who could at least keep his footing and not resort to frequent holding penalties in order to keep from getting the quarterback sacked.

I don't either. Surely there is someone on that depth chart who is better than Webb. Mayock, Lombardi, and Sharpe all said that the original intent for Webb after he was drafted was to give him a sort of "red shirt" season, pro style. However, we became so desperate to find a serviceable offensive line that we stuck him in there, hoping that he would fill a need. So far, in this combination of the past three games, he hasn't lost us a game by allowing a slew of DEs or ROLBs to get by him. He has, however, cost us a lot in penalties, and a key contributing RT wouldn't do that.

Because they drafted him in the seventh round instead of drafting an OL in the second round.

Stands to reason you get a better player in the second then you do in the seventh.

Quick Quiz : name the number of second round OL line players drafted on angelos watch.
