If I read the stats right....

after the Packers play we should be #1 in points allowed defensively.
Arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win your still messed up.

Not only that, but the Bears are #4 in yardage average given up. Thats the best stat and shows domination and getting off the field. The packers are middle of the pack in yardage given up, so the Bears are way ahead of them in the most important stat.

Have no idea how yardage can be considered more important then points. Not giving up points wins you games, can't say that about yardage. The Giants are 1st in the NFL in YPG allowed & 14th in PPG, the Chargers are 2nd in YPG allowed & 17th in PPG. Yards Per Game Allowed is helpful at times, but most of the time it's very deceiving

What's with a team that only averages giving up 265 yards a game on defense if it can't keep teams out of the end zone?

IMO, pts. per game is the most important. Yards are important too, but so are turnovers.

The way our offense played in the first part of the season, poor 3rd down conversions and the 3 and outs, the defense has actually played better than the statistics indicate. Our offense gave the opponents short fields in many of those games and our D managed to hold them to 3 or none at all.

Let's just hope the offensive line continues to improve. We'll see an increase in our scoring and team will be that much tougher to beat.

NE's short passing game worries me. They have a very good O line and give Brady a lot of time to throw. It's a game we can win but it will be a big challenge. The Jets don't worry me as much as the Eagle and Patriots. Plus, Detroit is going to want revenge for the Johnson TD. I expect that game to be difficult as well.

We have a tough closing schedule. If we manage to to win the division, we'll be battle hardened going into the playoffs.

The most important thing in the game is points.
Second is yards. Only reason yards is important at all (IMO) is clock management.
The more yards you put up as an offense the longer you will have the ball, the longer the other team's defense is on the field and the longer the other team's offense is off the field.
Defense is the same way, points is more important, but yards is a close second here as well. The less yards you give up, the less points you will give up (barring a great run back that falls short). The less yards given up the less time your defense will be on the field, and the more rested they will be in the long run.

PPG is misleading. INT returns, ST's touchdowns all effect the points. You can have a terrible ST's and give up 3-4 touchdowns, and suddenly you have a terrible defense because you give up so many points. The top yardage teams means they are SHUTTING teams down and getting off the field. A bend but don't break defense can give up FG's but yet wear down because they can't stop anyone from moving up and down the field on them. I'll take the top yardage defense any day.

There's no way I'd take a team who allows 240 YPG, but also allows 3 TD's a game. not a chance

It's a moot point, really, if your team can't keep opposing offenses out of the end zone and yet is among the league leaders in total defense. The Bears are doing both, and that's why they are asserting themselves as one of the top teams in the NFC.
