I think you can make a fair case that the assistants like Toub, Rod, Tice, and in time Martz are making Lovie look good. IF we can keep great assistants then yes Lovie should be considered to retain. If not then no.
If JA gets better scouting and improves his draft record as Lovie is improving his coaching record do you keep him?
Arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win your still messed up.

    Restore the roar!

praying for redemption. Not in the spiritual sense.

I'd say you have to keep him/them. Having better assistants is making Lovie look better, but that's the case for every great coach. Look at NE, Pitt, TB, 9'ers, Dallas...those teams all had excellent coaching staffs. If Angelo can improve his drafts, then why would you not keep him? not every pick is gonna be a pro bowler, but he definitely needs to start hitting on more of his picks

Does Angelo use the "throw a dart at a board" or "pick a card" to do his draft evaluations? I remember hearing him say he did one of those. I know he picked Cedric Benson because he's superstitious; see, Cedric Benson and Chicago Bears have the same initials, so he thought that was gonna mean something. Personally, knowing all this, it makes me more comfortable than if he were just some idiot who tries really hard but strikes out ALL THE TIME.

What the hell is the difference if he lands a starter in the first round or fifth?? does it really matter what round you get a guy as long as he can play?????

Look around at the team we have. we're a little short on the line, and people want to see a new face at reciever. outside of that what's your complaint?.... what's your gripe.

exactly... the man your bitching about is the same man who put together the team your looking at... and this one has more potential than any team I've seen in the past.

we started out playing like bottom feeders, and still won games.

we're 7-3 going into the home stretch, and we could still see some of the younger guys take that next step. . .
I just can't for the life of me figure out where the hate fest comes from.
first it was the TE. JA got us Greg Olsen.
Than it was the Franchise QB... JA got us that too...
then it was the recieving core.... JA got us Knox....
everything we've wanted as fans, we've got.... and immediatley moved on to some other B.S. Complaint.
We wanted a stud RB we got Forte....
We wanted depth at RB... we got taylor...
We wanted a stud DE, and when Pep became free it was JA better get him!!!! and he did...

Man... you know what... hate that guy, hate him all you want. it just makes you look really ungreatfull, and pretty lost on what the guy has/hasn't done.... it's like... nobody really knows, or cares to think about it. it's like one guy starts hating, and three more jump on the bandwagon JUST to be cool without giving it much thought...

Whatever.... I say "thank you Jerry".

I was just kidding, Grizz, relax. My only real complaint is J'Marcus Webb. Besides, I actually wanted Cedric Benson when the Bears drafted him, a fact I don't share too often.

Mah bad duder... I understand the frustration with the picks that flopped... I really do.

but I just don't think it should detract from the great things he HAS done. I mean... this team didn't put itself together...

it would be like having your Boss only want to talk about the mistakes you make, and the things that don't pan out, and just flat out turn a blind eye to the things you HAVE done well... and if you've done more good than bad.... you'd get a little pissed at your boss for only bitching, and never giving you the credit you deserve....

Not saying JA is the end all be all GM of the decade.... I'm just saying the guys done some REALLY good things, and for that I'm greatfull....

Honestly, I think he senses that O-line is really the only MAJOR importance as of right now. I'm pretty sure we'll see at least 2 o-linemen in the first 4 rounds. As long as our first pick isn't a Dlineman, i'll be happy. I trust that we will have a winning team for next year, as long as arrogance (86-07) or injuries (last year) don't get in the way of it.

our D line is pretty solid, so I doubt he'll go there in 2011's draft. at least not in the top 2 rounds...3rd or later rounds maybe/probably
