Breaking down the rest of the season, and playoff chances for best teams in NFC
Looking at the best teams in the NFC, it's sad to think that two of these teams are going to miss the play offs.
Falcons 8-2
Bears 7-3
Packers 7-3
Eagles 7-3
Giants 6-4
Saints 7-3
Buccaneers 7-3
The way it's looking, you will need to win at least 10 games to have a chance to get in (unless you are in the NFCW) . Then you need to hope all the tie breakers go your way. If you want an almost sure thing, you may need to win 11 games.
Here are the remaining games for the best seven teams in the *NFC along with my own game predictions and final record.
Bears remaining schedule
Eagles W *Lions W Patriots L Vikings W Jets L *Packers W
11-5
Eagles remaining schedule
Bears L Texans W *Cowboys *W Giants L Vikings W Cowboys W
11-5
Giants remaining schedule*
Jaguars *W Redskins W Vikings *W Eagles W Packers L Redskins W
11-5
Falcons remaining schedule
Packers W Buccaneers L Panthers W Seahawks W Saints L Panthers W
12-4
Saints remaining schedule
Cowboys W Bengals W Cardinals W Ravens L Falcons W Buccaneers W
12-4
Buccaneers remaining schedule*
Ravens L Falcons W Redskins W Lions W Seahawks W Saints L
11-5*
Packers remaining schedule*
Falcons L 49ers W Lions W Patriots L Giants W bears L
10-6
If it goes this way, Bears will win the division. Either way, the Bears and Packers playoff chances will come down to game 16, one of them won't make it.*
Looks like an 11 win team might also be left out in the cold.

I think the Bears will beat the Jets, and maybe the Patriots. I'm more worried about the Eagles and the Packers right now.

THey just showed the standing on MNF of the NFC west. You have to remember that one of them will make the playoffs, and not one of them is on the OP list.

I just shake my head when I think about that loss to the redskins, so many chances to put it away and they didn't. That loss may come back to bite the Bears before this is over.

That and the ass whupping put on by the Giants...have to finish w/a better record then the Giants, or win the Div, b/c they have the tie breaker on us.

That is what really sucks. The NFCW is garbage and will likely sport a .500 team, leaving potentially two teams with 11 wins out in the cold.

I can live with the Giants loss, because that is one that wasn't supposed to be a sure win.

I agree benj, but w/the Gaints losing the last couple weeks, their chances of winning the Div have lessoned which gives them a heads up on us to get the tie breaker if we were to lose the NFCN and also be looking at a wild card bid.

Everyone said the same thing 2 years ago when the Cardinals won it w/ a 9-7 record and ended up coming within one play of winning the Superbowl.

I dont disagree with the system, just saying it will be tough to get into the play offs and that at least one 11 win team could potentially miss the playoffs
