Bears RB 45 yards shy on team's all-time rushing list

Matt Forte has 567 rushing yards this season and 2,734 for his three-year career.
The Bears running back is just 45 rushing yards shy of surpassing Bears Hall of Fame fullback Bronko Nagurski for 11th place on the team's all-time list. With 331 receiving yards this season, Forte could be en route to his most productive all-around season.
"It's always big to be healthy, especially late in the season, so we can make that push for the playoffs," said Forte, who was hampered by knee and hamstring injuries last season.
With all of the talk this week regarding the Eagles' explosive offense behind Michael Vick, Forte has a plan.
"We have to control the ball, keep their offense off the field and control the clock," said Forte. "If Vick's not on the field, he can't hurt us."

Our O converting 3rd downs and making long drives, even if not scoring every time, is going to be HUGE. I think our DL can contain Vick from getting outside, but the question wil be can we get him once he's contained w/the middle of that DL.
Good for Forte, hope he can stay healthy through this year and next year.

Seems wierd to me that Nagurski had so few yards. 3 yards and a cloud of dust I guess...

more like not 16 game seasons; hell i think they were still only playing maybe 10 back when he did.

We can't be afraid of Michael Vick. He is human after all, and he has lost games this season (one of which being to Green Bay). We have to find his weaknesses on film and exploit them.

4.4 yard average, I looked it up because I was curious. 97 total games is all, he was born in 1908....wow thats a long time ago.

I told Purplejokr that Bronko Nagurski was possibly the greatest athlete ever to come out of the state of Minnesota.

Forte has played 42 games, but has 724 attempts, for a 3.8 avg. Nagurski had 633 attempts in 97 games. Most seasons he played in 13 games, FTR.

Matt Forte has been a solid running back as far as pounding the rock and receiving are concerned. I think that the OL's lack of run blocking has hurt his ypc avg in the past couple of seasons, else he'd be up around 4.0-4.1 yards per carry like he was his rookie season.

Not making excuse for the loss to green bay, but that wasn't really his loss. He came into the game as a replacement after their starter went down to injury. Vick almost led the Eagles back to victory.
That loss was not on him.
