I can't believe I agree with Keyshawn Johnson!
Just not on Monday Night Countdown, the cliche question: "Who's the best team in the NFC?" came up.
TJ picked the Falcons
CC picked the Saints
Then I sat there dumbstruck as Keyshawn Johnson said Da Bears! What was more shocking was his reasoning. (yes, I used that word in a sentence when talking about Key)
He first focused on how dominant the defense is. He then went into how much better the Bears offense have been taking care of the ball since the bye. And how much better the o-line has been in protection (especially compared to the pre-bye catastrophe). He then said an 'inside source' told him that Lovie Smith talked to Mike Martz during the bye and told hime to "calm things down" on offense. Meaning not so many 4 and 5 receiver sets and 7-step drops. To run the ball more an simplify the offense.
All of these things combined to having a more consistent offense combined with a dominant defense. Then Da Coach came next and completely backed him up! And not in that "of course Ditka will say the Bears!" way. He also noted that the defense is playing out of its mind. He first singled out Peppers and how fantastic he is. And then the coach said "Brian Urlacher is playing better middle linebacker than anyone in this league", which is of course, true.
I completely agree that the Bears are the best team in the league. The only way to beat them is if they turn the ball over and even then you're STILL lucky to win. The Giants offense was getting completely dominated until the 4th quarter when our 'D' was finally pooped. The Seahawks were the epitome of the "lucky win". And the Bears was a challenged fumble away from beating the hapless Redskins even with the Bears 5 turnovers.
Now that the Bears are taking care of the ball, any team will be hard-pressed to beat them. And don't let the Eagles 26 points fool you. That last TD pass from Vick (a beautiful pass) was a desperate and yes lucky heave. The Bears held the vaunted Eagles offense to 1 TD and 4 FGs. It's DAMNED HARD to score against the Bears. I can't think of another NFC team with the weapons the Eagles have.
Again, if they don't turn the ball over, the Bears are nigh-impossible to beat, but lets see how it plays out. I just can't believe I agree with Keyshawn Johnson...

Yeah that was a lucky heave by Vick. Crazy to think I agree w/Keyshawn. Maybe I should turn his picture back over like in the wild wings commercial.
Arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win your still messed up.
Restore the roar!

Whatever they are doing, hopefully they keep it up because the OL and Forte look wayyyyyyy better then they did 5 weeks ago, and Cutler is taking care of the ball better. They still need to get better but the ceiling is very high on offense and defense both, the OL is still learning to play together and the entire offense is just starting to learn Martz's system. I like having Major Wright finally back on D.
The defense and ST's have been top notch ever since Lovie arrived so I give him credit for that, I remember what it was like before that and it wasn't pretty.
Now please don't lose at Detroit, no road games are easy in the NFL and Detroit is alot better then previous years.

Said it yesterday, and was told I was nuts, but that win against Philly is going to help legitimize us and give some respect. It did. We now need to stomp over Det, and beat 2 of the 3 big boys on our schedule, GB, NE and the Jets

Bears best team in the LEAGUE? i wouldnt go that far. I would say Atlanta, maybe New England or the Jets could claim that title for now. Bears are doing very well yes, but our OL is still a main area of concern, especially when run blocking, and in pass protection. If we can fix up the OL this offseason, then sure, i can see them becoming one of the best teams in the league.

I didn't stutter. How could you logically say that New England and the Jets are BETTER than the Bears? They won't be able to score more than two TDs agains the Bears and their defenses most definitely aren't up to par with the Bears.
I notice you always tend to concentrate on the other team's strength and the Bears weaknesses. I do the exact opposite. I ask "can this team score against the Bears?". "Is their defense tough to score against?" "Are their special teams up to snuff?". Atlanta I'll give you, but the Pats and Jets are overrated and you're going to see that when the Bears smack them up.

No way New England or the Jets win the NFC over the Bears...

Chargers are the best team in the league.
How is it that Keyshawn was a crack addict, wanna be , moron, not worth listening to.... Untill now?
Honestly, I don't think the Bears will lose another game this season. I mean it, I really do think the Bears win out and are SB champs.
So, do I get a thread started about my opinion now, or do I have to put on a gaudy, overpriced, pimp costume and get myself on TV first?

The Falcons are the only team in the entire NFL that worries me. We don't match up well with them, they are incredibly balanced on both sides of the ball, great @ home & have great coaching
The Jets wouldn't be able to score against us & the Pats would do just what the Eagles did v us. The Ravens are the team that matches us best with the Bears among the AFC teams
The Bears are without a doubt a top 5 team in the NFL right now. And if you don't say we're elite, you must think there's only 2 or 3 elite teams in the NFL

Of course this all boils down to "guess we'll have to wait and see".
I want the BEARS to continue doing great, of course. But the fact is....and has always been, that they beat the teams that they should be losing against, and totally barf it up against teams that they should be destroying.
In that light.....this Sunday, IN DETROIT, will be no piece of cake by any means.
But, fk that ....... I'm still HIGH from last Sunday .... :-)
So, I don't even want to THINK about possibly losing to the lowly LIONS.
