Why pick a WR who is essentially a mirror image of DA who can't even break into the starting lineup, despite his talent, because of the way the guys in front of him are playing? To me WR isn't our #1 priority. If were looking soley for size there's probably some 6'4" - 6'5" red zone talent to be had in the middle rounds.
It's high time we rebuilt the Oline. We need talent for Tice develop at all three spots, especially center where Kruetz is getting a little long in the tooth. He's seen his better days. The next spot that needs attention is OG and unless we can score a guy like Mankins we need to draft one and there should be some talent there late in the first or second rounds.
That aside we need to start thinking about potential replacements for Urlacher, Harris, and Tillman. If we can't find the Oline help we need in the first or second rounds JA should be looking to develop guys at those positions.
We've all been bitching about the Oline play for three years now and it's high time that it got addressed one way or another. Cutler has obviously developed a good rapport with the receiver group we have now and with the emergence of Knox and Bennett and a bigger guy like DA waiting in the wings for a chance to play I just can't see using that #1 on a wideout.

Gotta get some depth and build a better oline. G and C then perhaps a FA to replace Schaffer. If we are going to get to a higher level at WR it starts with a new WR coach not Drake.

yeah, we gotta go OL first round, and maybe 2 of the first 3 rounds. and it's only my opinion, but Cutlers only 27 or so?? friggin protect him or it doesn't matter who he throws it to. Our current WR's are adequate, not off the chain lights out playmakers, but they're good enough right now. The OL isn't good right now, and could possibly be worse next year...new blood holmes...new blood

Man, can't we focus on the season? lol
But I tend to agree with the premise of Tom Waddle. We should get a first rate WR like Blackmon, Green, or Jones.

Dude33: he's a redshirt Sophomore, so he's eligible.
Said it before and I'll say it again, I don't want another young receiver in an already "too young" corp. Of course, this is one of the most talented group of underclass WRs in recent memory, so I wouldn't be angry if we ended up with any of the top ~10 of that group in the first two rounds. Really, though, I'm all about grabbing one of the very few legit first round interior OLs this year if we have a shot. Quote me on this...It is going to be the year of typical upside 2nd round OL in going in the first, so if those legit guys are gone, I really can't say there's a position on the field other than QB that I would freak out about us picking first. Brandon Harris is my "realistic" dream outside of OL at this point.
BTW, glad you caught onto Ballard, I mentioned him a while back as Iowa's most underrated talent and he is looking strong.

I thinking we need an OL pick early to add some talent but I don't think they need to use a first round pick on an interior player unless there's a real stud there. I'd rather grab a WR or a CB because my guess is they're going to see more first-round caliber players at those positions. Yes, it will take awhile to develop a WR but that is true for most offensive positions. They have to invest in some offensive talent, though. That is unless there's a corner they can't pass on.

This draft could create a friggin' dynasty.

NFL Draft bust rates. look at how high the bust rate % is at the WR position is compared to OL. Then scroll down and look at the franchise hit/miss rate. JA FTW!!

A FA C might be the way to go when Kreutz is gone and draft a G for depth. We have a glut of corners esp. w/Jennings and J.Moore being mothballed/redshirted. If we keep 9 instead of 8 o-lineman we could draft a T as well. A wr in the 3rd round wouldn't be bad.
