    The WR Draft

I have been listening to Waddle And Silvy as well as the Afternoon Saloon and they continue to push for us getting a true #1 WR. I agree with them that our group is talented and unique, but we have what could be a franchise signal caller and we need to get him his own Reggie Wayne.

1[25] WR Justin Blackmon [Oklahoma St] 6’1” 205lbs.

The Bears have a very solid young WR core, but they lack a true #1 go to WR. Earl Bennett is fantastic in the slot who works in the middle of the field with great routes. Johnny Knox is a developing deep threat and Hester has his package. Blackmon is a Reggie Wayne clone who gets open and catches every thrown his way.

    2[57] C Mike Pouncey [Florida] 6’4” 315lbs.

Mike Pouncey is not his brother Maurkice, but he is still a solid OL prospect. Pouncey has struggled at C all year and is really playing outside his natural position. Pouncey can start at either OG position and combine solid strength with elite athletic ability.

    3[89] DT Christian Ballard [Iowa] 6’5” 295lbs.

The Bears continue to add to a solid rotation inside on the defensive line. Ballard is an athletic pass rushing DT that can develop into a start with his size and ability to disrupt.

    4. OT Chris Hairston [Clemson] 6’7” 325lbs.

The Bears continue to build the depth, youth and size of their OL. Hairston has the versatility and size to fit in anywhere along the OL.

    5. CB Mario Butler [Georgia Tech] 6’1” 195lbs.

There is going to be a changing of the guard at the CB position and the Bears need to continue to stockpile young CB talent.

    6. LB Alex Wujciak [Maryland] 6’3” 255lbs.

Brian Urlacher is playing amazing football right now but an heir apparent needs to be found. Wujciak is very similar to Urlacher in his size and hard nosed attitude.

What do you think of taking WR in the 1st round.

wr would be my number one concern in this draft cause the oline is weak in talent. I like the direction of this draft but still way too early to tell whats going on. FA is going to be deep this offseason. I want to see what our cap situation looks like and actually see where we finish.

I think that if we are going BPA then we may need to pick a WR.

If we end up with Mankins and a 2nd round pick then WR might do us the most good on the OL.

We cannot start 2-3 rookies on an OL without some ridiculous growing pains.

I think we need a center more than a guard...I don't see Pouncey playing center in the NFL.

We don't need a receiver. Knox, Bennett & Hester works very well for this offense. No need to change anything. Knox is in his 2nd year & is improving tremendously. No reason to give up on him as a #1 option. He's succeeding in his role this season. I still don't get why people think WR is a necessary improvement. I like all 3 WR's the team uses

We definitely have no other choice in the draft except to pick a o Linemen. It is by far the biggest need on this team. Sadly the O Linemen in this draft isn't very strong

My personal choice as an O Linemen pick would be LT Derek Sherrod. Being an SEC fan, I've seen a few of their games & he's a huge reason their running game has worked out. He rarely ever gives up a sack, quite athletic & strong. I think he's a great fit for this team

As much as we need a true number one, I still think that we need to grab a quality OL.

Kruetz isn't getting any younger, or better
C-Will is running out of positions to play on the OL
    Garza is.... bad
Webb is somewhere between taking a shot to the nuts with steel toe shoes and a bullet to the brain
Omiyale is almost the same as Webb

    OL please.

What if there is no value at OL?

What if we are choosing between a WR like Blackmon with a grade of 92 and an OLmen like OG Marcus Cannon that might have a grade of 82.

1- Mike Gundy has said he's confident Blackmon will return next season. Not certain that his o[pinion matters, but it's more relevant than many other people predicting whether of not he'll go or stay
2- The only thing that can prevent Blackmon from being taken in the Top 20 (Which we will not) is if teams focus too much on his prior DUI arrest. If they don't, no way he drops past 20. Blackmon is better then Bryant & Bryant got taken @ 24

like windy said adding three rookies to the mix is a disaster...........unless you enjoyed our oline play early this season? I think we will sufffer with OMG-Williams-rookie-Garza-FA as our starters next year more so then Williams-rookie-rookie-Garza-OMG/Rookie. Which way makes more sense to you?
