Remember the guy that died at Soldier Field last week????

I was at one of my vendors yesterday, and he told me that THAT guy was a competitor of his company.
Of course, this is third party information, so take it with a grain of salt....but,

He worked at Fox Tool, in Woodstock, IL.
Apparently the owner of the company took everybody to the game and around halftime the guy disappeared saying he had to use the rest room.

Then, apparently .... and this is by no means the "official" story, and witnesses are saying two different things....

But, apparently this guy smoked. And you're not allowed to smoke at the stadium any longer.
So he was looking for some place to sneak off to and have a cigarette. He thought he could sneak around one of the columns at the stadium and not be seen. There in lies the problem.
You have to literally JUMP to the Column to get around it.

This is why some are saying that they seen him take a running start and just jump to his death.
But it is also believed that he was merely just trying to make the column...and missed.

Now....I have been places were having a nicotine fit is very real. But I have NEVER thought about going to those extremes to smoke a cigarette.

Oh.....and apparently they were ALL drinking, but come on!....of course they're drinking!
They're at a game; for crying out loud!

I hope the media doesn't jump all over that.
Any one of us would have been drinking also.


Poor guy just misjudged the leap. All for a cigarette. YIKES!!!!

no evidence. no problem. I got busted at the Bears Packers week 15 2008. the security guy just pushed the door open while I was "pissing"... well I was pissing and smoking... throw and flush.

he knew I was smoking, but just told me the next time I would be removed from the stadium. fuck it's better than dying.

It wasn't enough to allow it out on the mezzanine, no, they had to have the entire building.
Yeah, what the guy did was dumb, and he paid the ultimate price for it. Point being, is that the smoke nazis have gone too far, and this is coming from a non-smoker. (now)

I used to use nicotine gum, it kept me from de-limbing some of my coworkers. People would see me with it, and say, "Oh, you quittin'?" I said, "Nope, it's keeping me from killing you".

In places like Soldier Field, I wonder if it’s the 2nd hand smoke, or the fact smokers use everything as one big ashtray…in other words, smokers are the worse ****(edit, forgot where I was at) litterbugs ever….

But yeah, I am an unabashed smoke Nazi…screw ‘em…stay home if you can’t go 4 quarters without a cig…

They should have designated smoking area's like at the Airport.

Imagin if he had landed on a non smoker. The second hand smoke jokes would take on a whole new level.

I'm sure that place is quite the mess after every game....even without the cigarette butts.

.... wonder just how many empty Beer cups are left behind ~ by NON-SMOKERS.

In the stands, sure...but smokers throw their butts everywhere....if they let people smoke @ SF that place would be gross with butts just a few seasons...or require a top to bottom cleaning after ever game...
