I'm more concerned with Chris "watch me play Guard laying on my back" Williams... he's gotten "blown up" and put on his back at LEAST three times this season. Webb's been beaten.... but he's not been put on his backside.

Webb to me seems slow to get out of his stance. Yesterday's game and Vikings game really stand out to me where opponent was 2 steps into his rush and almost impossible to not take the penalty then.

I anticipate our line getting a workout. we'll be running Seven man fronts, lot's of chipping the TE' on the DE's. 2 back sets... should be interesting.

not too worried about the D or ST. I'm betting they kick it to Hester to start, and end up kicking away the rest of the game.

The Patriots haven't been able to dial it up against anyone else, not sure why he is such a great threat to us. He does not have a Cliff Avril, or Jared Allen or Osi umenoyra(Sp) or anything. They are bottom of the league in sacks. It is not like they are playing the Best O lines in the league.

I believe they will get pressure, but Defense is not the Patriots strong point, they are not that good. Cutler will get sacked, perhaps more than once, but I am not worried about our O in this game. Depending on the weather, I think we beat them good.

Let's face it, the Bears have two of the worst OT's in the league and it's gonna stay that way until we either sign a FA to fill the OLT spot or develop what we have.

Tice has a good reputation for developing Olineman so let's see what happens. Everyone knew that Webb was a project so it should come as no surprise that he's getting beat like a redheaded step child but the only way we find out if he's the guy or not is to play him. Shaeffer isn't the answer is he? So let's find out what this kid has before we throw him under the bus completely.

As for Omiyale, I think we was a wasted signing. He's had almost two seasons to step up and he hasn't. As it turns out it looks like he AND Williams will turn out to be big mistakes.

he's getting Beat yes, but not like a redheaded step child. Be realistic man. there's a lot of good, some Great, and the typical amount of rookie screw ups. I'm all about being Critical, but the term "piling on" is one Bear fans should be all too familiar with...

Players and coaches don't get criticized.... they get pounded into the dirt un mercifully from the little things to the big things.

if your gonna call yourself a fan, than be fan and be Fair in your judgements. Dont' repeat the same bad habbits of the media.
Fans should be better than that IMO.

is it safe to say we dont have one impressive olineman? Webb just stands out as the worst. Doesnt mean anyone thinks OMH is any good. It is just the person who keeps hitting cutler first is coming from Webb side. It is what it is for this season. The crazy part is going to be how do we improve it this offseason. There will be FA and on the flip side the draft stock is weak. And to top it off there will be competition for oline help coming from Cowboys, Steelers, Giants, Packers etc.... allot of teams are desperate for an olineman or two

Grizz I've been a devout fan of this team for 40+ years and that even includes a 15 year stint of living among the "cheeseheads" in Northeastern Wisonsin and Green Bay in particular. They couldn't turn me away from my Bears and neither could my staunch Packer fan daughter whose best friend in HS was Mike Holmgren's daughter. No one should ever question my fandom. I've stuck with this team through thick and thin for a very long time!

Despite that I think my take on Webb is fair. If you've read some of my previous posts you'd have understood that. I've compared his potential to that of "Big Cat" Williams who began his pro career as a DT and suffered for a while following his conversion to the Oline. I am saying give the guy a chance.

He's young, he's raw and he's a work in progress. I think in time Tice may be able to turn him into a very good player but that doesn't change the fact that right now he's a bit of a liability in pass protection and that doesn't bode well for a team with playoff aspirations does it? I'm not saying the guys a waste but you have to admit that if we had a better option he'd be sitting and learning from the bench rather than playing.

    Do you agree?

I remember you saying that now, I guess I just jumped into my response without giving much thought to who said it.
I agree with you 100%, and even to the point of yeah if there's a better option at RT hell YEAH sit webb and put the better of the two in, and let Webb have a chance to earn it next year. I just feel that Webb's getting the criticism he deserves... and then a little extra for desert, and then you got the cherry on top guys who say he's the worst in the league. is he doing GREAT? nope. Good? damn right he is. he's cleaning up his technique, and getting more comforatable with assignments.
he's weak on the speed rush a bit, and misses the read on some blitzes but that's just being a rookie. . .

anyone who's ever played baseball knows you can talk about a curve ball all you want, but until you get one live...
you can talk to a linemen about this that and the other, and even give him "practice" reps. . . but it's not gonna be the same thing as balls out, game day hunger from a D-line who has a paycheck to earn. you can't replicate that in practice cause your trying to keep guys from getting hurt.

I guess I just lumped you in with the guys who come here and just regurgitate the crap they hear on talk radio shows, and all that crap.... my applogies for that
