Check Ortons performance in close games this year. It's awful. His stats are only from teams playing prevent while he pads the yardage, if his stats were so fantastic the Bronco fans wouldn't be screaming to get him out of there :) It reminds me of everyone saying Vick still had 300 yards passing on the Bears, yet 170 of that came in the final 9 minutes when the Bears were ahead by 3 scores.
Also not shown in Ortons stats is the fact he scrambles like he's knee deep in sludge.

Down on Orton because 400 yards of passing doesn't = any points.

Plus yesterday's line 9 for 28 for 117 yards. Ugh!

I love it when people say his stats are only from garbage time; you don't get 300+ yards average per game, and 3000 total yards and 18 td's in the final minutes of the 4th qtr. Ya in close games his #'s are going to be down; b/c in close games the teams are stopping them from passing, and they have no counter to it....they CANNOT run the ball; they CANNOT play defense...the sole reason they are in most games is b/c of their qb and wr's. I have watched some of the bronco games, he's a better qb then you give him credit for.

Denver's learning what we already knew. Orton is a fairly good QB but he's not ever gonna take a team through the playoffs and into a Super Bowl. He also needs a dominant defense and a good running attack to be a consistent winner. The Broncos have neither.

In the Broncos system and with Belichik Jr's help Orton has improved as a passer because the system is designed to produce a lot of passing yardage. Orton now throws the deep ball better than he ever has. You also have to factor in the Broncos inability to operate a balanced offense all season long. Yesterday Moreno rushed for a buck sixty one only because KC decided to shut down the pass first and play the run second. So Moreno looks like anything but a busted 1st round pick and Orton looks like the vintage version of "Gross Rexman" on bad day.

Looks like Marino's record is safe this season but somebody better tell McD that yardage without points is like faith without deeds.

Orton isn't a shitty QB but he's no Jay Cutler and never will be. Most everyone out here knows but isn't saying that McD made as huge mistake trading Cutler for Orton and then not making the most of the draft picks he got. With Johnny Knox as the "to boot" in that trade I definitely think the Bears go the better of the deal in the long run.

Chances are that if the Broncos don't pull a major turn around over the last 4 games McDumb will make history again as the youngest NFL coach to ever be fired. The fans are calling for his scalp and empty seats are becoming a norm. There were all kinds of seats for sale for the last home game and very few takers. Pat Bowlen may not be a football genius but he knows that when the cash register doesn't ring as often that a change needs to be made. He can't hire a whole new team but he can get a new head coach to mollify the masses.

Orton isn't the answer and that's becoming an acknowledged fact. Look for Tebow to get a look see over these next four games.

"It’s time to stop making excuses for the guy, just because he’s exceeding expectations that were unbelievably low."

Heh..... that doesn't sound like what they were saying at the time of the trade...

Well i disagree with them claiming you cant win without a good QB. they listed solutions for all other sports for what to do if youre missing a key positional player, and for football if you dont have a QB...you can win with Defense.

Case in point: Kyle Orton. We went 11-5 and made the playoffs in 2005 with Rookie Orton not being much help...all on the backs of our defense.

and running the football.........got to do something on offense right and without chewing the clock that good defense isnt going to last being fatigued. And now with maybe two more games on the horizen makes the running game that much more important

They won enough that year to get in the playoffs, but we all knew there was zero chance to go anywhere once we got there.
