It was 70 years ago today
December 8. 1940 the Chicago Bears made history. They set a record which still stands to this very day. What is the record you ask?
The highest score by any single team was set by the Chicago Bears over the Washington Redskins on December 8, 1940, at 73 points. Not only was it the highest score ever in a professional football game, they won by the most points in history as well.
The Bears won 73-0

Didn't they beat the packers 70-0 or something like that also?

I thought you were gonna say Sgt. Pepper taught the band to play.

What amazes me just as much as the score of that game is that the Championship game in 1940 was played on December 8th
This years Super Bowl is to be played on February 6th
Both are quite ridiculous

There were also only 12 games instead of 16, and A lot less teams.

If I remember correctly, the Bears lost to the Redskins (only one of the year) like 6-9 or something like that during the regular season. Sammy Baugh was the Skins "unstoppable" QB.
Prior to moving to Washington DC, the team was called the Boston Braves.
Perhaps history could repeat itself on Sunday????
