Those 3rd down conversions the patriots were making killed the bears on both of their TD drives. The Urlacher tips pass in the endzone would have been nice if Harris would have caught it.

sure, run this cover who defense against a team that LOVES the short passes that this scheme gives up. recipe for success!

i know, but somethings gotta give. Granted, this is the best offense by far in the NFL. Its just pathetic.

Guitarzan is going ape shit in another thread. He had at least half a dozen posts saying everything negative about the Bears other than calling them sons of bitches and mother f*ckers. It's as if everyone has given up on the season, and what people need to realize is that the season is far from over. A win at Minnesota pretty gives us playoff berth and, most likely, a division crown. We still control our own destiny of getting a first round bye and the divisional playoff game at home. We should beat the Vikings, and frankly, the Jets. If we do that, there's nothing the Packers can do other than to take it up the ass. And remember too: the Packers still have to play the Patriots (next week) and the New York Giants before they get to us, and with Rodgers out for at least a week with a concussion, who knows when order will be restored in Green Bay?

The season is not over, we will slip into the playoffs, and get pants again.

Remember, Ric: it's a stepping stone to a brighter future. You have to learn how to crawl before you can jump up and run.

Dagan, this team was in the SB 4 years ago; they shouldn't have to learn how to crawl, they were running not to long ago. This is not a brighter future b/c next year all the teams will be trying to improve, not just the Bears. The Lions are going to take another HUGE step next year; their DL and O is already strong; what happens when they draft a top safety or corner w/a top 10, possibly top 5 pick? Or they improve their OL? GB is going to be healthy next year; The only team that looks to take a big jump backwards is Minny.

You also have to remember, Ric, that in 2007, the team had aged a great deal in the offseason after the Super Bowl. They couldn't run block for shit; we had terrible quarterback play until Kyle Orton came along and won the last three games for us. We nearly made the playoffs in 2008, but lost the last game of the season to the Houston Texans and instead of finishing 10-6 with a Wild Card berth, dropped to 9-7 and out of the playoffs. We had a good enough running game that year because Matt Forte rushed for over 1200 yards, and Adrian Peterson was a solid back up. Then last year came along, and everything we thought we had gained over the previous two seasons fizzled out before our very eyes. Forte was beat up all year, Cutler didn't have an offensive line to protect him (gee, doesn't this sound familiar?) and thus he threw 26 interceptions.
So yes, this team has been in rebuilding mode in this, going on its fourth season. This defense is much better than the previous three defenses we fielded in the past three seasons, but it needs work in the secondary. And you and I both know what this team needs on offense: a star WR and a few good to serviceable OLmen. At least we didn't hit rock bottom when we fell off our mantle.
