Interesting what Rodney Harrison said
For a guy that knows the Patriots inside and out .... he said you can't beat the Patriots by playing zone defense, because their OL is good and will keep the rush away from Brady, and he'll pick the zone apart all day. He said the Jets and Bears both relied on zone defense and were destroyed. Without playing man defense and bumping the WRs, there is no chance of beating them.

Apparently Lovie and Martz missed it.

makes sense. Especially after seeing the first half.

Everyone was saying it at half time; the Chin, Dungey(Lovie's boy who created the dreaded Tampa-2) all were saying in this kind of weather you cannot create the kind of pressure needed; then you look at that BEEFY OL of NE and I doubt in good weather we could have gotten that pressure. Need to man up occassionly Lovie....At least not play 15 yrds off the f'n wr's that are planning on running a 5yrd route.

One problem with this defense (or the way we've built it) is that the corners aren't terrific cover guys. They're generally zone defenders who are above average in run support. Sure, they can go man on occasion, but we have no shut down corners. There's a reason Angelo can find us new starters in the middle rounds. They're specific kinds of guys he looks for.
IMO, it wouldn't hurt us to get a lock down kind of guy. Sort of how we always had undersized, pass rushing 3 techniques and it kicked our butt in run D. I think it's time to adapt the philosophy on the corners.

I thought Buddy Ryan left to head coach the Eagles after the '85 season.

he basically said what many posters that arent blow hards said all week that this is the worst possible matchup for our defense. But at the time we were called haters and the blowhards were calling brady an average qb lmfao

This again huh Mo? You still never responded with an actual answer as to how the design of their offense doesn't make a QB look better, other than some weak ass 'why doesn't everyone run it then.. hmph'. And what about yesterday really impressed you with Brady? I saw a bunch of wide open receivers with little pocket pressure. Kyle Orton would have picked us apart.
And FWIW, I've maintained that Brady has average physical skills with high intelligence. He's an above average QB, but no HOF QB outside of that offense.
