SSG Salvatore Giunta honored at Soldier Field.

Congressional Medal of Honor winner SSG Giunta was honored at Soldier Field on Sunday. SSG Giunta grew up in Cedar Rapids, IA and is a Chicago Bears fan! SSG Giunta is the first living recipient of this honor since the Vietnam War. Charles Tillman paid his respects in the photo below.

Shame we couldnt win the game, but good to know he's a Bears fan. What better sports stadium to be honored in then "Soldier Field?"

also, they better never, ever, ever rename that field.

Just read the 'action' accounting for the medal - Outstanding, and very much well-deserved.

Glad to see the Bears honoring soldiers who have put their lives on the line for us. On a side note the Korangal Valley is a messed up place. I just watched a movie yesterday about it. It's called Restrepo. If you want to see a movie about what is actually happening over in Afghanistan, this movie is it.

Yep, EVERYBODY needs to watch Restrepo. SSgt Giunta earned the Medal of Honor for his actions during Rock Avalanche, which plays a part in the documentary, but the camera is not near him at the time. They don't talk about it at all.

Very cool to see the Bears organization honor him. He seems like one hell of a man. Jump onto the Restrepo website and watch his interview(s?). Gives you the understanding of what type of people are in the military.

Likely not work safe due to language. In the interview I saw, there were no "bleeps", there may be on this one.
Screw it, here's the YouTube of it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=50RFJfUzNsY
