On the eating of my christmas crow and enjoying it!
Many of you know that I was very much against the free agent signing of Julius Peppers. I admit to having taken a few wrong positions in my day around here but this one truly takes the cake.
He may not be the only reason the Bears are NFCN Champs but he certainly is a major part of why they're champs. The guy is worth every sheckel we gave him and then some. He's also cured me of the belief that a pass rushing DE needs to have 15+ sacks a year to be worth that kind of money.
He's a high motor difference maker, an All-Pro and a true team player. Nothing I've seen this year evidences that more than to watch him chase down and tackle Percy Harvin in the end zone on the Vikes first score. That's a player of the first degree.
My hats off to you Julius Peppers. You're the best in the game and I'm damn glad you're a Chicago Bear!

gravy makes the taste better.
My crow looks like Oline, they are playing better. Don't know if it's Tice or the individuals or Martz playcalling or Cutler's mobility (or E, all of the above) but they are playing much better after the bye week (and seemingly improving each week).

my crow goes to us being playoff caliber.
but the Peppers move to me was a no brainer. He is one of the most stellar DEs I have seen. Especially when the next best option tore his acl I knew he was a must have. I dont like giving money to players coming off injuries. Look at the Eagles they are a perennial playoff team why? Every time they go for a FA they go for the gold. You build around the scrap heap you will be a scrap heap team. We tried that after the superbowl and we have sucked since. Now we finally went for the gold and look at the turnaround for our defense. One Peppers is better then having two good DEs imo

They do seem to be improving a bit especially on the left side of the line. I still can't believe that the Omiyale/Williams switch is becoming as effective as it has. Webb looks like an absolute beast to me but he's got to cut down on stupid penalties. Hell, even Kruetz and Garza seem to be reinvigorated. They're a far cry from the old "Black and Bruise Brothers" but Tice has got them stepping up a notch or two.

Maybe I missed something, but I don't recall but one penalty on Webb the entire game (holding in first half). He is doing much better. Likewise I don't recall a penalty on Omiyale. Those two developments alone are significant. The blitz test this week will be a great indication of how deep they can go in the playoffs.

As far as I can remember that was the only one in this game but remember, it did come on the TD pass to Aromashodu. There was another that might have been called when he locked arms with the DE but the ref passed on it surprisingly enough. I'm really very high on the guy but when I hear announcers comparing him to a young Flozell Adams it concerns me. Isn't Flozell one of the most penalized OT's in the game?
And yes, I don't recall Omiyale getting flagged for a hold either and going up against Jared Allen that was an accomplishment. In fact Allen was pretty much held in check the whole game. Maybe the guy is learning how to play but he's not likely to make me forget Jimbo Covert anytime soon. LOL

My fried crow is Daniel Manning and Rod as DC. It's been very productive with them.

yes I was a real Manning heckler lol but I have atoned to that multiple times already

The problem with Manning is that they never let him settle into one spot for very long. He was more often than not a FS/CB/NB off and on throughout his career. Now that they've settled him into the SS spot and kept him there his play has improved a lot. Add to that the fact that the guys a hellacious kick returner too and for my money I hope the Bears don't part ways with him in FA after this season. We need the guy.
