Am I the only sad that we are stuck with Lovie for another year, maybe more?

First and foremost I am extremely pleased that we won the division. I definitely enjoy the sound of Chicago Bears 2010-2011 NFC North Champs. With that said let me carry on.

LOVIE SMITH IS NOT A GOOD COACH!

Every time people start the "Fire Lovie threads" some smart ass always has to say "why is that everyone ONLY posts this after a loss" well im gonna change that and im gonna post one of these statuses after a win, let alone a conference clinching win

Knowing the bears, we are going to give Lovie a 17 year trillion dollar contract to reward him for this season. I don't like Martz either, but if Lovie goes and new regime comes in its gonna be yet one more offense for Jay to learn, so I think we are screwed with Martz. I like Marinelli but I think we all know what can happen with him at the HC spot (0-16) The fact that Lovie is gonna be back only means that we are loosing out on having two SB winning coaches (gruden and cowher) potentially coaching this team. Cowher absolutely detest the bears coaching staff and he didn't take a job last season because he wanted to coach this team. Well he is not gonna come in and I think we are screwed with Lovie.

So a good coach would be someone who does what exactly? Is 12-2 instead of 10-4? Clinches the division in week 13, not week 15?

Lovie and JA are far from perfect, but they took steps in the past two off-seasons to get us where we are now: they did a few blockbuster FA signings in both Jay Cutler and Julius Peppers. Now, if you think those are no brainers, think of all the other FAs and trades lately that have proven to be busts: Moss, TO and Haynseworth are at the top of the list, sure i can find some more.

They also tried to fix some of the coaching problems by brining in Marrinelli, Mart and Tice. Now granted, Tice has crap to work with, but our Pass Blocking has shown much improvement the past few weeks, but our Run blocking is still atrocious. The Bears already have a lot of pieces in place, and really only need some good OL acquisitions to go from Good to SB material.

Is Lovie a great coach? no, but id much rather see them focus on other areas then our HC one for the time being.

oh, and i would disagree about "knowing the bears they will give him a 17 trillion dollar contract."

I remember after 2006, they took their sweet ass time in giving him an extension, and he still remains the most relatively underpaid coach to be in a Superbowl.

I think Lovie stays and Jerry needs to go. Simple as that.

Lovie is GREAT Defensive coach, a very very good one and I don't think that anyone can question his defensive coaching EXCEPT for him basically kicking Rivera out, that is the only error I see in him from a defensive perspective. His offense on the other hand is mediocre to say the least. I do give them props for bringin in players like Peppers (although I think its alot of money + long contract we are giving him) but I'm am not complaining about that and that is not an issue. My problem has to do with Lovies stubbornes, our offensive line has been pathetic not just this season but the past few seasons but they have refused to address the line. Our offense has been pathetic for a long time, long before Lovie came in, but we cannot seem to realize that we need offensive lineman. It doesnt matter who your Quarterback is, it can be rex it can be kyle or it can be jay, if your line does not man up and block your qb is not gonna mature in your offense. Lovie and JA assembled a great Defense and Special Team unit but the fact that he cannot assemble an offense to compliment them makes me iffy about him continuing to be our HC.

He's not gonna be fired and they are going to focus on other things hopefully we can fix them and then maybe lovie can show off his offensive skills, but as of now I dont think he has many offensive skills

I think that people have gotten so wrapped up in "Lovie Sucks" discussions that they really forget what is important: Winning. And thats what the bears have done...win games. I remember back the the bears were 4-3 and struggling, and the season couldve gone either way. And had we had another losing season and failed to miss the playoffs again, then sure...Lovie would be gone. But, that didnt happen. So, Lovie wont be going anywhere.

I am perfectly 100% comfortable with the Bears being stuck with a coach who in the last 7 years has won 56% of his games, has 3 divisions titles (more then either the Packers or Vikings with 2), hasn't had a 10 loss season since his 1st year, has had 3 Top 5 defenses & is on track for a 3rd 1st Round Bye for the Bears

Seriously. The ONLY thing a Coach should be judged by is Results & Lovie has definitely got the results. The Bears have the 5th most wins in the NFL since 2005 (57), 2nd most wins in the NFC & have the most wins in the division in that span (6 more then the Packers). He got to 50 wins faster then any current coach except for Reid & Coughlin. The Bears are 34-21 - 61.8% @ home since 04. The Bears are 8-5 v the Packers since 2004. He's the 3rd Best Coach in Chicago Bears History behind Halas & Ditka

There is no logical reason to want Lovie fired when he's one of the most successful coaches in the NFL over the last 7 years. Winning trumps everything else & the Bears under Lovie have done that better then most teams

The results from this season are almost certainly enough to keep the current regime in place.
Although I wonder why the Bears waited until this season to start spending money, the money they DID spend has been paying big dividends.
The offense has had time to acclimate to the playbook. The OC has made adjustments to facilitate that. The results, along with Tice coaching the Oline, have been evident.
The defense is operating at a high level once again. Special teams are great. Our KR broke an NFL record and tied another.
The Bears are the first team this year to clinch their division.

I'm sure Lovie has had at least a hand in all this. I don't find being "stuck" with him so bad.

Exactly....I am not going to lie, personality-wise, Lovie drives me crazy...I just don't like or "get" his unemotional, seemly detached temperament; personally, I’d like to see a little more “fire” out of a coach….but I am learning to love his coaching results…and in the end, that’s the only thing that matters…

I'm a Lovie supporter. He's had his dunderhead moments. (Rex is our QB, mismanaged Challenges, ect)

But don't first time coaches get a little slack? he's six years in. we've had 3 division titles, we consistently beat the packers, we tasted our first super bowl in for-freakin-ever, have a decent shot at another with solid play and a little bit of luck. and next year looks like the sky is the limit.

so while Lovie's surely picked his fair share of oopsie Daisies... I like his Bill Belichek "can't tell if we're winning or lossing", one size fits all demeanor. the players respect the HELL out of him, play hard for him, and looks like he's finally put together a staff capable of developing the talent we have, which had been a bit lacking in previous years.

Fire lovie?? HELL NO!!!! Someone start writing up that mans extension!!!!!
