Catching the Giants when they are collapsing, does not a giant killer (pun intended) make.
It will be a good game next week. I think I can safely say that it will not be a blow out, but I can see a game where the score is over 70 points. 38-35 or more.
No defense can stop anything, just ask the 85 team, when the Dolphins had their number, and subsequent years when they did not dominate like we thought they would.
Im not scurred....
hence: BEARS WILL BEAT THE PACKERS.

It's a moot point. Chicago will defeat Green Bay and live to drop an egg on their faces yet again. The Packers suck, they know it, and we know it too.

Yeah, DL pressure, linebackers getting into zone, DBs all keeping the play in front and eyes on the QB all our part of our execution and forcing TOs. None of which the Giants did which is why they were torched. Speaking of DL we need way better interior push then we've been getting which will help contain Rodgers since he is very good at escaping between the rush and extending the play.

I'd like to see us play the DB's closer to the LOS and get a jam on the Packers receivers (heck all team's receivers). The fact that we don't do that is somewhat counter to the basic concept of Cover 2 db play.
Seems like we are playing defense a bit more conservative recently. Maybe the players are tired this time of year. Maybe we are afraid of footing issues and so give more cushion. I'm not sure.
However, I think we could benefit from a new wrinkle next week. It could even be subtle.

"If you're not a liberal at twenty you have no heart, if you're not a conservative at forty you have no brain."

sanchez was playing behind one of the best olines in the league. We couldnt get pressure. Rogers plays behind a pretty porous oline. I think that is the main difference between the two scenarios you threw out there. Dont write us off just yet nerrad

This. The Jets o-line does not get the credit they deserve. D'Brickashaw (sp?) is worth every penny they pay him and probably more. Bears D will get lots more pressure than they did against the Jets. It will be a tight game, but this one is gonna be Bears O that makes the difference between W and L.

And yet Rodgers has been sacked a whole two more times than Sanchez. And at the same time having a much higher QB rating, more pass yards, more touchdowns both rushing and throwing, a higher completion percentage and less attempts while missing an entire game. Rodgers has one of the fastest releases in the entire league, he doesn't need a godly offensive line to get it done.

Rodgers is a very good quarterback. He's been through some stuff this season, that's for sure. But I think we will do better against the Packers OL than we did against the Jets. The Packers definitely don't have the running game that the Jets have, so that's one positive sign for us going into Week 17.

It should be a great game, and I can see us winning and ending up playing each other in the first round of the playoffs. How awesome would that be? Two Packer/Bear playoff games back to back so instead of having zero meaningful Packer/Bear games we'd have 3 in one season. Of course the season ends for whoever goes to ATL more than likely.
Our running game has actually improved steadily over the past few weeks. It's not where we need it to be, but it helps. The only weakness I can honestly say we have outside of a weaker run game is on kick/punt return blocking and coverage, where we've been UNGODLY HORRIBLE the past two seasons. I almost want our kickers to just try to kick the ball straight out of bounds, we'll give up less yardage with the ensuing penalty than with an actual kick return. If we bring Slocum back as our ST coach next season I'm going to cry.
Speaking of kick/punt returns, it's good to see Lovie finally woke up and put Hester back on kick return duty where he can actually do some damage. I still don't see how he thought taking him off of kr duty was a good idea. Simply mind blowing.

Evernight, in all honesty, I wish the Bears had the Packers continuity of success from year to year. We've split the number of seasons over the past ten years that we've produced winning records (Winning seasons: 2001, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2010; Losing seasons: 2002, 2003, 2004, 2007, 2009), while the Packers have just suffered terrible years in, I think, 2004, 2005, and 2008. I think those are actually the only three losing seasons the Packers have been dealt since 1992. You draft well, make trades and sign free agents as needed, and those are things that the Bears haven't done a lot of prior to the past couple of seasons. We still can't draft worth a shit in the 1st Round; only Chris Williams and Greg Olsen have been valuable 1st Round draft picks to us during the Jerry Angelo era of being general manager. That's my paying a compliment to your team, so savor the flavor because with my being a Bears fan, it probably won't happen again! LMFAO
I agree with you on the Packers kick/punt kicking and coverage. I've not had a chance to see a whole lot of Packer games since I live down in Tennessee, but I do recall from watching the game between our two teams back in September that their special teams was lacking. Hester ran one back for a touchdown. It could happen again this game as well if the Packers choose to defend against Hester. Who knows?
